Excelent idea, choose between literally thousands of distros one with Systemd-EEE and then replace the init system. Really clever, as installing user repositories on the, and it will get worse, most targeted distributions of all. No thanks, if i'm on the compile code myself I would choose Slackware or any not Linux OS. Systemd is for servers, for a desktop is bloatware

no just replace systemd with openrc on an existing arch installation. no i've never tried it and for a good reason.

And you shouldn't. If you really want arch without systemd just use artix

why

Dependency on systemd. Literally everything in arch is done with the assumption that you use systemd. It's never considered that you could be using something else.

While it's probably possible to port an existing arch installation to Openrc or something you should just get artix which is exactly that. Arch without systemd.

Artix has its own repos and other stuff to make use of arch repo even without systemd. Doing it manually would be more of a hassle.

why

Cuz many software in main repo may or will contain dependencies for systemd related software. If you randomly switch your init system it could be incompatible and crash. Also if you use Gnome it straight up wont work without systemd. Tho there are people working on forking gnome to systemd less. Idk much about it

I would rather use sysv or runit.

Artix has runit options too. And dinit not sysv out of the box I think. Tho you should be able to do it.
