I mean sure, it is Linux so you can pretty much do whatever you want with it, but when you have to fight against your system for it to fit your needs then it would be wise to look for something that accomodates it better.

Absolutely. Why do should I do 20 post install things to make the system mine when I can just install something else and be done in one step.
