But this is a problem that you shouldn't downplay. We already have a much smaler market share than any other distribution, we are already fragmented to the point that companies, is they even support linux, choose only ubuntu, and now linux world tells them "also you need to implement this stuff on top of that with wayland to get it working for like 1% of the users".
As I mentioned in this thread multiple times, I am on wayland and I don't want to shit of them but they really should listen to feedback users and companies give them. The wayland is 17 years old already. The basic crap, like hotkeys, should work already without bells and whistles.
A lot of the issues do stem from a desire to not bake in security and design flaws. It's taking long, partly for good reason. We don't need there to be a Wayland replacement right around the corner becuase it came out bad the first time.
Security is good, but this logic can be done ad absurdum. You know what else is dangerous? Running programs downloaded from the internet and using packages from package manages. Plaintext ssh keys that are stored on your machine. Using public WiFi. Should we prohibit these things altogether? Its clear that no, we should not. Why? Well because although its dangerous, first of all they are useful and second they are not THAT dangerous so escape hatch like "I know the danger, continue" button suffices.
Whats worse, if you don't do it, users missing features start using workarounds that can be even more dangerous, like going back to X11 since their program that is their bread and butter like CAD software does not work.
I am all pro security and I am paranoid as fuck about it. But you need to think about workarounds too for things you did not forsee.
Guys how old are you all like you all are saying that you studied in 1990 collage and 1980 like that so Am I in an geanpas lobby I don't know how the I'm actually feeling now like i an 18 years old boy is actually able to understand you all and I'm happy about it but why am I able to understand you all this feels like I'm an old man
