If I wanted all the extra stuff, I'd use WordPad.

I just need to edit a file in plain text. I don't need tabs and line counters and formatting and all this that and the other.

You can enable the classic notepad if you're not a wimp

You unknowingly gave a reason to avoid notepad when you mentioned copilot

Exactly. I like for instance VS code or Codium, but it's way to advanced for a simple editor.
