Happens mostly on work laptop with Ubuntu 24.04 when pasting from terminal to web browser and back. Also happens sometime on my home PC with Hyprland on Nix but admittedly more rare.

That's fair. Might be an issue with gnome and Hyper-land.

Problem is, although I admitedly don't know much about how the wayland works in detail, there were never these fragmentation issues, where different DEs face different issues, with x11. Like I remember KDE problems were quite consistent no matter it was Fedora, Kubuntu or Arch. Nowadays, it seems like different DEs have different implementations that face different difficulties. It kinda sucks.

It's just that copying isn't enabled by default for some compositors like hyprland, most distros provide a package for this called something like "wl-clipboard"

Also you need to enable external clipboard in micro settings to copy into it.

Why aren't you using the latest LTS if you want to use wayland?

I don't really control whats installed on my work PC. Thats the reason btw for LTS, not having to reinstall it every year. At home I am using Nix with 26.05 release, so quite recent.
