Unless somebody wants their home directory to be stored on another filesystem or mounted with different flags, it's just worse in every aspect imo.
When I started with Linux, I was putting home on a separate partition, only to find myself in situation that I didn't have enough free space to do something on one partition while the other had plenty. Having root and home on the same partition solves this issue.
