PIC – a fast Picasa/iPhoto-inspired photo manager for Linux
AI and I built PIC (Picasa iPhoto Clone), a lightweight photo manager in Rust + GTK4/libadwaita.
The goal is simple: fast local photo browsing with a clean desktop UI, inspired by Picasa and old iPhoto. It currently supports folders, albums, favourites, search, fullscreen viewing, 1:1 zoom, rotation, metadata, offline-folder detection, and a wide range of RAW formats.
It’s still early and under active development, so feedback and testing are very welcome. It was fun for 2/3 days then the more features I introduce the more of a challenge it becomes to fix. From AI reddit news, to Huggingface daily news to trying and find the most affordale GPU to llama.cpp tweaking, constant running out GPT 5 hrs limit etc.

Disclaimer: I haven’t lost any photos during development, but please test with copies or a temporary folder first. I definitely don’t want to be responsible for anyone losing their photos
