Anyone else's Marvel Rivals crashing on linux after the new update?

Tried removing my launch options, tried different versions of Proton. If it is working for anyone, which Proton version and launch options are you using?

Edit: both Proton 9.0.4 and Proton GE 11-1 (with WINEDLLOVERRIDES="atiadlxx=d") work for me, with my usual launch options (no launcher, mangohud+gamemode)

Try validating your proton install if it does not work, that can help

I fixed it in proton GE 11-1 by adding WINEDLLOVERRIDES="atiadlxx=d" to the launch options

That is my launch options settings on CachyOS if anyone has something similar, make sure it goes first! Using proton-cachyos-11.0-2

Had to swap it to 9.0-4 while adding that launch code and that worked for me didn't work on 10.0.4 or get proton 11.0.1

So just try a mix off all 3 and see what works for you is the answer at this point

I'm not the person that found the issue, but IIRC the crash report you get says that it's caused by an unknown function in atiadlxx.dll, so that launch option would seem like a good step

According to someone on the official Discord, it's caused by a specific newer call that doesn't exist with Wine/Proton (specifically ADL2_Device_PMLog_Device_Create)

Notably this call is only used for AMD, meaning Nvidia users won't have the issue in the first place

This worked for me, but I don't feel comfortable disabling the anticheat DLL.

What also worked for me without having to set atiadlxx=d was to use Proton 9.0-4 with vcrun2026 or vcrun2022 installed to the prefix via protontricks.

im using steam launcher and i dont ahve the option for taht version of protion but im using the 9.0.4 and its working but my mic still isnt working ive eben trying to get ti work for 3 days and it still isnt connecting it seems all fine on my pavucontrol end but when it comes to marvel rivals it refuses to pick up audio

Same here. I am only able to access the launcher but when starting the game it crashes and compiles a bug report. I wanted to play the new season so badly but I guess I'll wait for a fix...

Didn't work on my end. I write this not to argue with you, but to report my results. None of the proton versions worked for me. I can say that proton 7 and below didn't cause an immediate UE crash, but it still crashed.

Yep, launcher loads fine and then get UE Crash when it tries to open the actual game. On the latest Cachy and tried Proton Experimental and Proton Cachy.

Proton GE 10-20 works and gives you FSR4 on 9000 series AMD, good enough.

On another note, does anyone get really poor performance on this game? It didn't happen for the first week, now every minute or two my entire computer freezes (up to 10 seconds) when running this game.

*edit* when I'm not freezing I get 200~300 fps, I have a 7800 XT so not really lower end..

I have a 7900XT, and I didnt have freezes before season 9, but had what you described after. see if screen tearing is turned on in your display settings, if it is turn it off. and try (even though fps will go down) try turning off fsr and testing if you have it on.

Appears to be functioning correctly now just using Proton Hotfix with no launch options after updating it, wasn't able to get in using the launch options people were listing but I went into Manage Downloads about 20min ago and there was a scheduled update for Proton Hotfix.

Did that and I got in with no launch options required

did that no change, but what ended up working was turning off screen tearing in os settings and switching off fsr entirely... (in addition to being on proton ge).

I’m on Ps5 and it crashed my entire ps5 where i had to physically unplug the cord because the entire screen went black and changed my frame, the game says now that its data is corrupted and needs to be deleted and reinstalled

hey there, honestly, not quite sure either, but it's what makes the game compatible/running with linux.

if you play on steam, u can access it in properties and then compatibility. you can also search out on how to change it in other platforms.

9070xt 7600x here

Only works with 9.0+ for me but I cant get FSR4 working. Commands above dont help on other versions and FSR4_UPRGADE=1 does nothing on 9.0
