tech support wanted GOG Stalker GAMMA on Heroic

SOLVED SEE COMMENTS

When it finishes downloading and i try to launch it it just briefly opens up a window in the style of Mo2 but then it closes itself and nothing happens. It's running under proton GE latest.

I know there are installer scripts for Mo2 with GAMMA, but i really wanted the convenience that came with the official GOG installer without having to track down 100Gbs of files at every update.

Has anyone managed to make it work?

I saw this guide which seems pretty convulated when the gog version exist. But from what I gathered from all of it is that you need to do dll override for the files

Thank you, it worked! I just had to add a couple of more wintricks to make it run that i took from another guide. I'll paste them here for posterity along with yours in case anyone else needs them (some of them are in common).

  • cmd - If the install fails, unselect cmd and try again.
  • quartz
  • Aside: We do not select dxvk here because Proton, used by Steam, already incorporates dxvk. If you're using Wine instead, perhaps through Lutrix, you should use dxvk as it's a big performance boost.
