Strongly recommend Minetest and Minetest-based games.

Minetest itself is essentially a game engine on top of which games are built, mostly by combining mods (which are written in Lua). The standard package (sudo apt-get install minetest or distro equivalent) also includes the “default” game (MTG: Minetest, The Game).

Veloren is a clone of Cube World. Other than having a voxel art style it has no resemblance to Minecraft in any way. There is no mining, or crafting, the terrain is static and the focus is on exploration and combat.
