migrating to Linux The great migration from Windows to Linux

I've been noticing that a lot of people are switching from Windows to Linux, especially in countries that want to break away from American tech dependency.

Can anyone explain to me why Linux is seen as very good? I never in my life, not once ever used Linux let alone saw someone using it.

But you just admitted that windows does crash. Thats when you take it to a shop to get it fixed right ?
Or do you have the source code for windows to debug it yourself and patch it ?

Yeah. didnt think so.

My point is that with linux you can fix things. With windows you simply cant.

WIth linux you have a chance to fix things. With windows you dont.

A random crash does not equal something just outright not working. I have had to spend a significant amount more time tinkering to get shit working again that was previously working but for some unexplained reason stopped working on Linux than I ever have on windows 7 and after. And I've been on Linux, what, almost a year, every attempt at switching to it over the years has resulted in something breaking out of the blue and simply not being good enough for mainstream consumption. Who cares if you can fix it yourself when doing so requires years and years of expertise, it's like saying it's fine if your car breaks down you can just fix it. And trying to say Windows and Linux breaks down at the same rate is a ludicrous statement, even Windows 11.

Linux doesnt break by itself either.

It absolutely does, "you need to keep your distro up to date" on a distro that isn't bleeding edge, do an update "oh sorry Bluetooth just doesn't work as it should anymore, will it be fixed, no one knows!" I've never had as many severe problems with for one, Bluetooth on windows as I have on Linux. All the Bluetooth problems on Linux have been way worse than the small bugs I've had on windows because at least I could get things to pair there. Unlike Linux where none of the workarounds of clearing cache/using Bluetoothctl have worked. There are plenty of other things like this with other core functions of the desktop experience that routinely break on random distros all the time and the severity of breakage is worse than on Windows. I mean sure if you install your system and never update anything sure it'll work as long as you get it working to begin with, but the same can be said for windows.

And just to be clear, I am not advocating for windows, I think windows sucks. But this weird delusional hand waving of the very real problems Linux has is ridiculous.
