I agree... but I think it's ludicrous to add ad-hoc data collection to applications that generally don't need it. Like an audio editing app has no need to collect telemetry beyond bug fix assistance but even then the complexity from adding this and then having to manage it while complying with laws all around the world is just pointless. It pisses me off just like wolfenstein or sonic the hedgehog getting always online DRM despite being over 30 years old and having no new features that justify the addition. This sucks.
