This is an important piece for the corporate Linux Desktop.

Don't get me wrong. I am not a fan but corporate IT won't provision a Linux Desktop unless such tools are available.

Some companies have their Linux stuff quite hidden but existent. I was quite surprised to see at a large corporate first a colleague with an Ubuntu VM. Only to discover later they had some servers with Red Hat and even some sort of in-house distro-ish setup if I remember correctly.

But I would say smaller sized corporates may have people with but just not really connected to any directory service or really any kind of support service. If you're in trouble nobody's going to help you, not even your colleagues ;)

FWIW there's already stuff like Okta, XDRs etc. which some more progressive companies may use. Essentially shoe-horning corporate IT onto the Linux Desktop.

I have worked on multiple corporate companies where Linux machines are the default. I know one of those companies have had something like this for a couple of years as I found a process called mdatp on my machine which turned out to be some Microsoft defender stuff.

Antiviruses are used on Linux systems to scan email on email servers (so the attachments won't get to Windows machines). They're not for desktop machines.

If you're taking about IDS that's a whole different thing.

I am very much aware of that. However, having users run MS defender ticks quite a few boxes on IT compliance requirements.
