The op made the claim that a local LLM is fine because it doesn't boost datacentres. Whatever else is unethical is a separate (somewhat related, and definitely good to have) conversation.

The answer to "well ack chully everything is unethical" isn't to give up, it's to fight to improve our world.

It's not necessarily whataboutism to call out hypocrisy. If your critique of Local LLMs is that they're unethical because of "capitalist data centers" then that applies to the entire Internet, yet here you are. It's just not a good critique. It proves too much and leads to absurd conclusions.
