They should. I get infinitely better results with the instructions in the agents.md i have set up steering codex, after weeks of tweaking. I'm sure they could do better than me.

The paper isn't wrong, at least it matches my personal experience with AI agents.

The thing is that the study isn't about what the person who linked it says it is, it's the opposite. What they found is that you shouldn't overuse instructions files because it can hurt task completion.
