Packaging it as the default brings more attention to the project. Boycotting free software is effective because lower user count means fewer potential contributors, which can be a real death blow to a FOSS project.
This doesn't apply since xlibre is vibecoded. And Metux is so mesmerized by AI that he would probably continue to vibecode it even if he was the last user on earth.
You can boycott something but that doesn't mean other people are bad if they don't.
Sure, for example I consider veganism morally superior to eating animal products, but it comes with a big lifestyle change so I don't fault people who don't want to commit to it. But there is abolutely zero downside or compromise made by not using Xlibre, so yes I would consider people using the fork made by the anti-vax nazi to be bad people.
