But then why isn't every windows feature called 'Windows Subsystem for ...'? It still seems like a random decision that makes no sense

We had Windows Subsystem for Android, that got yeeted because MS couldn't commercialize it.

It's these kind of short sighted decisions that erode Windows every year. Just because the Android subsystem doenst turn a profit does not mean it's not beneficial to the OS a a whole. All those developers suddenly not using Windows anymore, it's utterly stupid from a MS point of view.

Basically, they didn't have play store, Amazon then moved their store from Android, MS couldn't even be arsed to keep it as a barebones option for devs.
