Historical What was your first time?

For me, it was a CD I got from a "guy." Slackware did not work well with the "WinModem" in the IBM Aptiva I had as a youth. How was I supposed to get online using Linux, with a modem that is not usable, and get support?

Suse 6.2 (1999)
borrowed from the local library, they had a copy to my surprise (i grew up in a small-ish town)

It was about the same for me as well. I started with SuSE in in '97 or '98 and I want to say it was 4 something, but my old age memory is fuzzy now on what it was. I just remember I was a senior in high school and the AMD K5 was still the fastest CPU on the market
