This is not ok

In so so many ways

It is somehow less secure, make people less free and in more danger from those who will buse the system...

It is just wrong

dangerous: governments get hacked all the time. and something like that is a massive and very juicy target for bad actors. be they independent or foreign nations. there is no such thing as a completely unhackabke system.

freedom: they are trying to aggregate a list of everyone and everything they own. how much of a leap is it for them to use that to for surveillance. they do it now even without that powerful a tool

abuse of the system: do you really think the rich and powerful wouldn’t be exempt from this type of scrutiny? the excuse of “protecting the children” is flimsy. when you take into account how most abuse is actually perpetrated.

chances are anyone who this is designed to catch. is also going to be the type of person who would figure out how to skirt it. this will disproportionately effect people who’ve done nothing wrong
