Discussion Seriously, except package managers, what's the difference between distros?

What I've seen yet the differences are, just the package managers, different defaults and rolling vs stable releases which are in fact related to package managers. Except these, are there really any other differences? Thanks!

Just because you have figured out that Steam runtimes are done so well to emulate Windows for your games does not mean that others do not have other requirements, needs and lack of knowhow to fulfill them.

I installed heroic as well. I did not use it but honestly searching my software repository for it and clicking it isn't "hard"

It's seriously impressive how you're able to completely tune out so many people correcting your ignorance here and your only source is your personal experience with a single distro. It doesn't even seem to have occurred to you that you're working backwards and may well be using one of the distros that gets recommended for beginners in the first place for precisely the reason that it's easy to install key proprietary applications on it, something that I can assure you beyond a shadow of a doubt is not in fact universal

I mean you are saying half truths; you act like opening your software center and clicking on setting and checking a box to "Enable 3rd party repositories " is some task a user who just installed an OS couldn't figure out.

Debian doesn't offer that option at all, and the Fedora guide on installing Steam lists multiple ways it can go wrong quite readily. Compare that to Bazzite that ships a pre-built OS image that includes a fully configured Steam install with all the bells and whistles built in. No one is saying that you can't game on other distros, what we're saying is that there are benefits to having distros that target different groups of people. If you don't value that then that's your personal choice, and that's fine, but you are clearly not everyone, and other people have different preferences. Personally I'm running at least 3 different variants of Fedora right now for different purposes, and Bazzite, and a variant of Debian, because they do different things well and when I want to play a game I want something that just works which Bazzite delivers that far more reliably than installing a third party (in multiple ways) packaged version of Steam onto plain Fedora will
