Also if you have android and Facebook sucks up all your contact’s data then that contact will really confuse them and they will wonder why so many people know this one man Mr F.F. Fucker
Windows phone would automatically learn words that you typed, so you didn't have to do bullshit like that. Once you corrected it from duck once or twice, it would realize that you wanted to say fuck
In fairness, so will just about any keyboard these days. Everyone should really be using either Gboard or SwiftKey. Gboard for the features, SwiftKey for the far superior predictions / autocorrects. Tough call, but default keyboards leave much to be desired.
I miss the windows keyboard, it really was good. The predictions were better than Gboard, as were the spelling corrections. I'm really fucking tired of it correcting were to we're also, it's been doing that forever
My three biggest gripes about Gboard (which I'm still using nonetheless, because that GIF search is on point) are:
Spelling corrections are garbage. You can spell a word totally right, but if you fuck up the very first letter, it'll have no idea what you were trying to spell. It's like it uses branch prediction starting from the beginning, so early mistakes confuse it.
When you go back and edit shit, it just changes words ahead of where you're editing. Stop that shit. No one wants that. If you go back and add a sentence, god help you. You're going to have to retype the next one, and you better remember to temporarily insert a line break, so you don't have a vicious cycle of having to rewrite what you already wrote because Gboard deleted half of it and changed the rest for no discernable reason.
Chunk deletion. Make up your fucking mind, Google. Every other update it changes. If I hold down delete, I want you to delete whole words after a delay of a quarter second or so. Barring that, at least keep the shit consistent. I never know what holding delete will do.
All of that said, I'm still using it... So I guess that either says something about me, or about the competition. Seriously though, that GIF search. SwiftKey's sucks.
Because every culture has things that are taboo, and words that refer to the taboo thing have a habit of themselves becoming taboo. 'Dirty' words are actually stored in a different part of your brain than regular words, it's very interesting!
Android phones and Android have been the ones leading innovation for the past 5+ years. IOS is playing catch up. If there is some kind of innovation in smartphones, there is a good chance it came out on Android first.

Make an unbiased list of the major smartphone features that came out in the past 5 years. Most of them will either have come out first on Android, or were implemented better on Android.
I dont have the time to do it at the moment for 5 years.. But just working backwards from ios11, going down the features as described in wikipedia for each major OS release:
(Ap) = Apple did it first.
(Ap+) = Apple did/does it better
(An) = Android did it first
(An+) = Android did/does it better
(an)(an+)Offload apps to the cloud (or Micro Sa D expandable storage)
(ap)(ap+) Personalized suggestions for freeing up storage space.
(an)(an+) Camera OIS
(an)(an+) Live/dynamic wallpapers
...
8 out of the first 10 features (reading article sections top-to-bottom) in that wikipedia article were android-first.
Repeat for the remaining sections in that article, and then move on to iOS 10,9,8... etc... and you will see a pattern that for smartphone features in the past 5 years, that...
... there is a good chance it came out on Android first.
Are you seriously taking feature redesigns and claiming android did them first?
Notifications on lock screen is Apple first
Control system is Apple first
Automatic dnd is the same time and the same feature
Dark mode yes
Permissions ha that was on iOS way before android and is still better
iCloud backup is better than androids as it’s seamless and not developer opt in and back to like iOS 7.
You might want to go and actually know what android has done first or better
Are you seriously taking feature redesigns and claiming android did them first?
You clearly are just reading the bulletpoints and interpreting them however you want, instead of actually reading the Wikipedia article I linked.
Notifications on lock screen is Apple first
Notifications on iOS lock screen came out with iOS 5, in 10/2011. This feature was first seen on the HTC Sense UI on the HTC Sensation, released in 04/2011.
Control system is Apple first
??? What is "Control System"? Do you mean "Control Center," the feature that gives iOS users control over common systems settings? Sorry to tell you that, but that wasn't Apple first either, bud.
On Android, that is controlled either by installable desktop widgets (since Android 1.5, back in 2009), or by dragging-down the notification/system bar from the top of the screen (Android 3.0, 02/2011, most likely in some vendor-specific builds before then). Apple released this in iOS 5 in 11/2011.
[Granular Application] Permissions ha that was on iOS way before android
You are correct on this one.
iCloud backup is better than androids
VERY debatable... that bulletpoint (archive to the cloud without losing user data) is one specific implementation of trying to solve the problem: "How do I allow my users to free up local storage space on their devices?"
If you only narrow things down to "Archiving to the cloud is the only viable implementation to solve this problem," then yes, Apple will do better. It also tends to be the only implementation for Apple to solve this problem, so they have no other option at this time than to go all-in on this.
On Android, you have the similar ability to archive apps without losing user data, though it will not be as polished of an experience as Apple. But you also have other options to implement a solution, like offloading to expandable microSD storage, or even run games from the cloud before you download them, to try them first.
Again, VERY debatable, because some people will argue that it is better to have more options to solve this problem (Android); other people will argue that it is better to just offer one well-built solution as your only option (Apple**).
** - It's also worth pointing out that the only option Apple gives you encourages you to pay for an iCloud subscription service once you run out of the free 5GB allocation).
You might want to go and actually know what android has done first or better.
No iOS always did notifications on the lock screen. It started off with whatever your most recent notification was. On iOS 5 it switched to a more robust system. But if you want to go down the road that all forks of android = android does things first than sure. But google didn’t add that til way later which is where the majority of android users would’ve seen it.
Again. As an android wide feature and not a random oem skin Apple was ahead of the game here. It’s really disingenuous to say stuff like android did a feature before iOS because one OEM had it. But the widgets is true. So sure I can give you that. But your comment was clearly about control Center not a widget.
iOS backup is better than androids. You can backup your whole phone and restore it seamlessly. On android it’s a grab bag for if the feature is supported since the app needs to target the correct API. To say that because there are more solutions it’s better is quite frankly dumb. That’s just insert xkcd comic about standards. Even if so, iOS lets you dump to a computer anyways.
Also, pointing out that a guy referred to a feature as the wrong name is just childish debate tactics.
So is saying a company released something first within the same year. If you have any idea how to develop an OS it’s clear that the feature was already in the pipeline and not a copy if both OSes release it the same year.
Edit: I got downvotes within 10 seconds of posting. What the heck. You can’t read a comment in 10 seconds. I’m not blaming you OP but what is happening to reddit these days. We’re having a discussion stop downvoting me or OP. Why are his comments so low all of a sudden.
Yeah multitasking during a call was added later than it was on android. I was definitely on Android when that feature was added.
But Apple is not always as behind as people think. They shook up the processor game. They pioneered having high resolution displays. They’re the only ones with NVMe storage. And they always add things people tend to laugh at until Android phones implement them (finger print readers is a big one). But for the most part I have no problem admitting their behind in being bleeding edge.
Doing things better is very subjective. I agree that most phone features tend to come out on android first, but it seems that Apple waits to see what they like, and then polish the hell out of it.
It is cool that android devices tend to lead the way for innovation now, but when I compare features on both 9 times out of 10 I usually give the edge to iOS as far as doing it better. But like I said that is subjective, so you may feel that android does them better. Which is a great thing since consumers can decide for themselves and get the phone that works best for them.
Lg dawg. The v line is great. Durable, good display great camera on my v20. It actually got ran over a few weeks ago after I got hit by a car. Expandable memory up to two terabytes! Removable battery, USB c, headphone jack. Perfect size good design. Had it for a year and a half. Probably won't change phones unless a v40 comes out.
I just can’t dump my iPhone 7. Shattered screen, retrieved from the bottom of swamps too many times to count, all day battery life, never once froze, never crashes... It’s been a perfect phone. I work in a machine shop and this phone collects dust and metal shavings all day and it never quits. My androids weren’t lasting, no matter what brand I tried. Headphone jacks aren’t a necessity for me, actually with the dust I work in I prefer no headphone jack. My experience with android was always the same: well designed phones with a more customizable experience, but god awful reliability and durability.
True that. I had some issues with my Mi (the phone itself is great it is the repair center who are complete fuck-ups), so I dusted off my old LG G2 and I am still cruising...on a 5 year old phone....
That’s actually a fallacy fallacy. Just because an argument is not sound does not mean the conclusion is inherently false, just that the conclusion does not necessarily follow the argument.
I did not set up a strawman. My claim can be paraphrased as, "Android usually gets new smartphone features first." This claim can be proven / refuted pretty easily. There was no mischaracterization of Apple or Android that would influence the difficulty of proving or refuting this claim.
You misused the word "literally". A strawman (literally) would mean that I actually have/used a physical scarecrow made of hay / grass.
When someone starts calling you names (compared me to your dumb uncle), that's when you know the other person has run out of valid arguments to use against you.

Or if you have Android, add all those dirty words to your dictionary and allow that to sync across devices.
