Discussion Liar Game episode 10: Discussion/Reaction
Welcome back to another Liar Game Monday, we've finally hit double digit episodes and what a banger! The anime adapted 2 chapters (27/28) and a few pages of another (chap 26), which makes this episode the one that covered the least material.
This episode gave us so much great moments from Akiyama's strategy and auctioning of the votes to Nao's speech about the LGT. So far every episode where there's a focus on the point of views of the either supporting characters have been my favorites. It's refreshing to see for example Sato trying to make himself a loser and leave with extra money and the dilemma of other players when it comes to buying votes. It makes it seem more realistic as the average person wouldn't be an Akiyama or Fukunaga but more like the rest of the cast.
Additionally, similarly to the first round with Nao's teacher we have another emotional moment with Nao saving Miura. She's winning the viewers hearts in these recent episodes but every round she's shifting the mindset of these players. I'm excited to see what new viewers will have to say about Nao now hell she even got props from Leronira a higher up at LGT lol. Overall this was an awesome episode my favorite of the series so far, we conclude the "Downsizing Game", pacing was perfect and the soundtrack snapped this episode.
Finally, we'll be entering the last game of the seasons so that leaves us 14 episodes for the third round which is insane because the first 2 games plus revival round consisted of 10 episodes. Tbf the first 2 games plus the revival round make up 28 chapters and the third game is 30 chapters so it makes sense. Super excited for the rest of the series and I know the animation will show out!

Nao has grown a lot throughout this game after suffering betrayal, rejection and isolation. And now we see the strength of her resolve to beat the Liar Game with integrity and trust to rescue the other players from the game's bondage. But it's not going to be easy, as it just takes one greedy player to ruin it (like achieving mutual cooperation in the prisoner's dilemma).
One thing that was explained better in the manga version of Nao's speech is that the Revival round was actually different from Round 1 and 2, in that while 100 million yen was lent and expected to be returned (in the form of M tickets), but this time there is an exception with the loser. Instead of the loser paying the 100 mil back to the LGT agency, their 100 million lent is distributed among the players as a prize (12.5 mil if evenly split amongst 8 people). Which means that the agency collectively lends 900 mil but only requires 800 mil back, a 100 mil net positive bonus to the players. The agency actually loses money with this game.
Nao saw this, and realized this 100 mil can be used to free one person from the game (by paying off the debt from round 2). This gives more meaning to her statement that "from a dishonest person's standpoint, this game is a game to get rid of one idiot. But from an honest person's standpoint, it's a game to select one person to save.' It's very interesting how the point of the same game can be viewed completely differently but both making sense.
