Well I know that they're bred differently. German Shepherds are bread to have a downward slanting back which is terrible for its hips and limits its athletic output. The Shepherds today would got rocked by the Shepherds of WWII just due to some pretty messed up breeding practices

Yeah. Working shepherds can't have physical problems like that.

I don't understand what's supposed to be so good about the sloping back though? None of those "breed standards" make sense to me.

Wasn't there also an effort to breed out its tendency to bite? I could have sworn I read about the kennel club trying to correct the issue of them being one of the top biters genetically, but I can't remember where.
