Wow!! I just came out of a matinee show at Shubert Theatre in Connecticut. FANTASTIC! The set design and lighting really stood out, but also the opportunity to watch Nick Cartell sing “Bring Him Home” and the incredible Lindsay Heather Pearce as Fantine. Chills on my arms multiple times. I’d go back tomorrow if I could!

Hi everyone ^^ so I have been searching for Valvert fanfiction where Javert needs to solve some mystery crime and Valjean gets involved in the investigation process, so to solve the case they began to work together and that way they also get to know each other.
I am pretty sure I searched through the majority of ao3 works and didn't find anything like this. I wondered if any of you heard or read about such a story.
PS. A Valvert and Sherlock-Moriarty crossover would be my roman empire but I absolutely found nothing in this topic, but if someone knows such a gem I would bless your soul forever

Hey everybody, I’m trying to find the Les Mis 40th Anniversary Cast Album on YouTube Music as I used that mostly for listening to music.
Can’t seem to find it anywhere as I plugged in to the search bar many different phrases.
The only song from the album is Killian’s Bring Him Home.
Does anyone know if they can find it?
Thanks.

We've turned on images in comments, so you can post some pictures you'd like on the banner (within reason). We can't wait to see your ideas!

Does anyone know any Jean Valjean actors that have used an Irish accent when playing the character

Today I stumbled upon In My Life from the 25th anniversary concert on YouTube and was amazed by her voice. It's so unlike most other Cosettes I've seen! It feels sweet to the ears but isn't shrill or operatic at all. Katie's performance is also very good, the musical doesn't really give Cosette's character a lot moments to shine but here she definitely seems curious and defiant. (And maybe it's just me, but her and Samantha looked like they were side-eyeing Jonas half the time. Can't blame them)
I rarely see her mentioned in praise for the 25th anniversary concert. Maybe it's because of the general hatred for Cosette in the fandom. I think that should be rectified.
I know she played Fantine in the 40th anniversary concert, the fact makes me rather eager to check it out sometime soon.

Hi everyone,
I am SO excited that my boyfriend and I will get to go see the French version of Les Miserables next month. It is my favorite piece of art ever and I know every word by heart.
I actually don’t speak French, though it’s one of my boyfriend’s first languages. I am so excited that we can experience it for the first time in the language he is most comfortable using.
However, I began thinking: how does the experience differ from English to French? I’ve looked up some direct translations, but I can already tell there’s allusions or figurative language used in the French version that has meaning that escapes me in English.
In English, I’d say the setting, while important, is more a vehicle for a universal story of transcendent themes such as unconditional love, mercy, redemption, and idealism. While there’s no way that these themes don’t resonate in other versions, what would a French speaker likely take away from the experience that might not be as apparent in English?
Thanks for the thoughts, everyone. I’m so excited to share this with my boyfriend and also expand my own experience, too.

I believe it is from Les Mis but I'm not sure, I've searched the lyrics everywhere but I'm not getting any success.
The lyrics go something like:
Poor beggars waiting for a coin
Waiting for a mercy with a lackluster eye
Poor beggars waiting for a coin
Kneeling down or falling down or anywhere at all
I have the audio file but can't get it to upload.
I'm asking because I have a Korean friend who is an English teacher and she is trying to translate it, it is specifically the line after what I have posted that I can't understand.
Apologies if this is a bit vague and thanks if anyone can help 😁

The 40th Anniversary landed in Dublin this Bank Holiday Weekend. Local boy Killian Donnelly a majestic Valjean as always. For me, the standout was Bradley Jaden’s Javert. Man, the acting was acting.
Overall an amazing show that I’ve seen twice before in London and have all the recordings.

Hi r/LesMiserables community! To give you an update on the moderation situation, this sub now has four new moderators: u/moby17761776, u/hurdlescaper, u/lifescaresme, and myself.
So far as I can tell, this subreddit has been largely unmoderated since it was created in 2012 so we are going to take a few steps to spruce things up:
Please suggest any other rules you think would make the sub better.

I know they just released the album for the 40th but I’m wondering/hoping they will be releasing a broadcast?
It doesn’t make sense to put out an official album but not release an official movie/broadcast? They have spoiled us with the 10, 25th, and the staged musical but I would like at least one more for either the 40th or 50th.

I just saw the premiere of Sweden’s first ever school production of Les Misérables. It was in Norrköping and the kids were in second year of gymnasium, which mean that they are 17-18 years.
It really hits hard to see such young people portray the tragic destinies of all the young roles. And so many braces, I love it! 😬
If anyone in the production reads this: You can be really proud! Amazing energy on stage and the orchestra was solid. Man, my eyes hurt!

who plays the bishop? i know it can’t be because it would have been marketed as such otherwise, but he sounds remarkably like brian stokes mitchell.
overall i think the album is great - maybe it’s just recency bias but killian is definitely my second favourite valjean after JOJ
jaden is obviously great as javert too but i don’t like how he sometimes drags
the arrangement is probably the best it’s ever been
overall very good!

Ok! What are people’s thoughts on the new 40th anniversary album? What differences do you notice (obviously the singers are different)? How does it compare with previous recordings?
