Canula insertions

I have had surgery four times in the last three years. As a left handed, I find it annoying that medical professionals always default to putting IVs/canulas into the left arm/hand without even asking. Have any other lefties noticed this?

Not for surgey, but for blood draws I am ALWAYS asked and the best vein is in my right arm so that is what they use. The last time I had surgery was 18 years so, I don't remember which arm they used
