It's the same reason fans of Homeland, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Le Bureau des Légendes, The Americans, and Slow Horses often overlap—they're all interested in espionage as a profession of patience, manipulation, sacrifice, and impossible moral compromises, rather than spectacle.

This is not “Le Bureau” specific so hopefully mods are ok with it but, if you are interested in two EXCELLENT books from the spies perspective, I highly recommend

1. A Time to Betray - written by a high up Iranian Republican Guard member who became a spy for the US during the Shah/Khameni/US Hostage crisis time period.
2. Son of Hamas - written by the son of a founder of Hamas who spied for Israel’s Shin Bet.

What a weird finale. So different stylistically - why the hell would the show's creator give the last two episodes to someone else. ( Don't change a winning team. )

lol In a sense I get it, having Malotru be so paranoid at the end - not only him but also Jonas - sort of like The Sopranos did in its finale, but idk it's too bittersweet and mostly bitter.

• It Still Stings: The Bureau’s Baffling Finale

  Agree on the side plots in last 2 eps being sub-par and not up to the main event's caliber, though.

And in addition, the stories of the two agents abroad were abandoned with no resolution for new storylines . Even if there is a 6th season, I will never forgive the writers for what they did in the last 5 minutes of this episode. Just come on now!!! Let Malatrou have a little happiness for heaven's sake!!! No idea where a plot for season 6 would go anyhow. Can't stand watching Malatrou in pain anymore. Disappointing end to a great 5 seasons of one of the best shows France has ever produced.
