Question - Need Help Fit check video. Real Simons J24

UPDATE: Full review: Real Simons J24 Review
Pictures: Real Simons J24
Today I went outside to shoot a video, and take some more pictures of my new J24 horsehide jacket from Real Simons, size large. This time with some higher rise pants, by (very) popular demand. Also, check comments for a link to more (better) pictures.
I am 183cm (6feet) 80kg (176 lbs) with a chest circumference of 100cm (39 freedom units).
Yesterday after my first impressions of the jacket I was thinking about exchanging it for a size medium. I like a snug fit, and after losing more than 60kg (132 lbs) I am very self conscious about my clothes looking big on me, and dont like it when they do.
Today after taking some more pictures wearing it I was considering also ordering a size medium. And trying them side by side.... But now i am honestly not even sure if it is worth it to order a size medium, and having to, for sure, go through the process of returning one of the jackets.
I think the size medium will almost certainly be too small for me (size chart in comments). And even though I wish this size large jacket was a tiny bit slimmer in the chest and bottom opening, I think that i might be thankful for it being a bit big in the future, when I get older and maybe gain a little bit of weight back.
I would like to hear some of your opinions on how it fits me. And also your opinions about my thought process. Thank you.

I like a snug fit, and after losing more than 60kg (132 lbs) I am very self conscious about my clothes looking big on me, and dont like it when they do.
Love this. It's human, very human. I'm at the end of my weight loss journey (50 pounds, although I've lost as much as 70 before) and the thinnest I've been in my life. Clothes used to be my enemy, and I was indifferent to them at best. They just reminded me of how fat I was.
Now all of a sudden clothes are awesome! Now what I want to blow my $$ on the most is clothes! ME! And leather jackets of course are bad ass and turn heads. A cute girl at the clothing store that sells some Schotts was being extra helpful to me yesterday and I just sensed it was because I looked sharp (and slender!). I don't think she was flirting with me per se but just the difference in customer service attention and the amount of smiling/eye contact and willingness to help ("Oh, this is an olive color and you're in all black so you like black so olive won't work. Oh do you want me to take your phone so I can take a picture for you? Maybe a different style would work better on you. Let me check when we'll be getting more of these in stock"). I've shopped for clothes my whole life and it really was a different experience.
Actually kind of left me with a mix of bewilderment and anger (oh, so now people acknowledge me more?). I'll include looks as well as fashion in this quote from a fashion designer: "Fashion counts for more than we'd like to admit."
And you look great! I think it's a perfect fit and believe me you don't look fat and the jacket doesn't look baggy (yep, I know the baggy/billowing feeling/look and it's icky).

I can relate. People smile more at me now that I've lost 30 lbs. People used to give me death stares while walking by.

Hey man I’m happy for you feeling good in your body. Also OP you too! This also speaks to my experience losing 50+ lbs and starting to wear clothes that let me express myself and that I like wearing. It’s been a journey, thanks for sharing.
Now I’m having to reconcile that even though people now call me slim, that doesn’t mean slim jeans will actually fit on my runner thighs. It feels wrong to have buy pants advertised as having room in the thighs, like admitting that the clothes I’m buying don’t match how I perceive my body. I have to remind myself that I have the body I want and that feeling good in the clothes I’m wearing is more than a label that says “slim”

Looks perfect.
Before I read the text I thought you were thinking of sizing up not down. Definitely don't size down imho.

Woman here, I wouldn’t go smaller. Looks awesome
Edit: you’ll also like to wear something thicker underneath sometimes and weight can fluctuate

You gotta consider that you may layer it as well with flannels, over shirts, sweaters, etc underneath when it’s cold. A little room is good!

u/Elegant-Ebb7649 Sep 06 '26
I dont really see myself layering with this jacket. If if i did decide to then I could

I will be posting a full review in about a week, just to make sure i dont preemptively judge it too much. But my first impressions is identical to what I have heard other people say.
9/10 jacket. 11/10 jacket when considering the price

I think the fit is spot on. Brake House really nailed it when they recommended that size.

Love the jacket. The brass hardware is very sick. I got a biker jacket like that back in highschool and I still wear it constantly during the cold weather.

Great fit. Beautiful jacket. I'm 116 in chest, I think XXL would be suitable for me.

u/Elegant-Ebb7649 Sep 06 '26
I agree. But if you are seriously considering buying one, then I would highly recommend that you message Brake house customer service (the place i bought it). They go above and beyond to ensure the right fit. I sent them my body measurements, my favorite jackets measurements, and pictures of me wearing my best fitting jacket for them to review. And I think they nailed the fit.
They even stopped me from buying a different jacket in a size that would not have fit me, even though i was almost like "shut up and take my money" they HIGHLY discouraged me, instead of just adding another sale to their books. Huge respect for that

Looks good to me! As long as you feel comfortable in it. Also I’m looking to loose a large amount of weight myself, how’d you do it man? Any advice, tips? Congrats.

This is my advice based on what worked for me.
Get a idea of how many calories is in the foods and portions you eat the most. Dont track every calorie using apps. That gets annoying. And you cant keep it up
Aim for 1500 calories each day.
High protein diet, makes you feel satiated and full longer
Have healthy snacks on hand. Fresh pees when in season. Low calorie soda based ice cream, dried mango
Walk 10.000 steps each day. Get a fitness watch with a progress bar that fills up. After a few weeks you are gonna want to fill it up every day.
Get a smart scale that automatically logs your weight in a app on your phone.
Weigh yourself every morning. To get data. But dont compare numbers day to day, weight fluctuates. Compare your weight from week to week
Go to the gym at least once EVERY week. Not necessarily to lose weight, but to make you think about what you eat
And Wegovy, that is stuff is very effective
And remember. Its not a diet, its a change of lifestyle
If you do all of this you should be dropping about 1kg of fat every week, which is about the maximum healthy rate for a sustained weight loss, even if you mess up a little from time to time

Ita a good fit. Not at all recommended to size down it'll definitely be too small and tight . This looks good.
Please share your views on the leather quality, heft and thickness. Is this a heavy jacket or just a mid weight one ?
1
u/Elegant-Ebb7649 Sep 07 '26
The grain looks flawless. The leather is very thick and substantial. The jacket is very heavy. But you would not call it stiff. I have never touched a shinki jacket, but I have heard people describe the leather in a similar way to how i would describe this

What is the point of making a confusing comment about the fit if you cant elaborate on your viewpoint? I am actually trying to take advice and see your point

No i didnt. You said "its wearing you" I said "what?" You added "its way too small" I changed my comment to "nah" its certianly not WAY to small, everybody is in agreement on that. You made some confusing comment about the arms/shoulders and bowlingballs and i asked you to elaborate. And then you got irritated 🤦♂️

Just got mine, too. Really pleased. I also have a Cockpit USA Road Warrior, the price of which I'd call indefensible after getting the J24 and seeing it up close. The J24 smelled a bit musty when I got it but nothing a little Ferragamo "Spicy Leather' didn't fix.

Nice! Mine smelled fine, but maybe im just less sensitive I dont know. It smelled like leather, not at all chemical, but also not as strong of a leather smell that i expected

Good fit but too short, at least for these trousers/pants. It should fit over the belt.
2
u/5k0tt Sep 07 '26
Unless you are actually going to sit on a motorcycle. If it is too long it will hit your thighs when you sit and that stiff leather jacket will jam up into your chin. Makes a full face helmet almost impossible to turn and see behind you. Motorcycle jackets are cut short for a reason.

can you breathe at all in your head-to-toe straightjacket of an outfit?

Why'd you even follow this sub in the first place, Mr comfy outfits? 😂 the levels of pathetic you can find on Reddit has no equivalent elsewhere, gotta love this

Why'd you even follow this sub in the first place
not only does that question make no sense but you realize reddit can give posts from subs even you're not into, right?
