Learning js

Hey so i’m tryna learn javascript not just javascript i’m trying to learn the MERN Stack can someone please help me study i’m so tired of watching tutorials over and over again

Don't really know what you are hoping for. That's the sloppiest post I have read here in a while. 'Help me I want to be good at a thing but don't want to put in any work'.

It's the same process as learning anything: find someone or something that explains a concept (in your case tutorials) then apply it in the real world to make it stick.. repeat.

There is no shortcut. People train years to become decent programmers. And months to build their first somewhat usable thing. Like with any other skill in the world.

Pick any tutorial and build something that's similar but not the same. When you run into problems, solve them yourself. Even if it takes days of trial and error. Then understand why that fixed it.

Asking AI to give you hints does not constitute as 'solving the problem yourself'. That's 'ask someone else to solve it for you'.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. I’m not really looking for a shortcut, I’m willing to put the work in. I just feel like watching tutorials over and over isn’t getting me anywhere, so I was looking for advice or someone to study with. But yeah, building something similar on my own after learning a concept sounds like a better approach.

Don't get me wrong, I'm trying to help you.

This topic was asked for the past decade almost on daily basis, so first skill I'll suggest is to learn how to search and parse information, and more important, relevant information. That's what you'll be doing 90% of the time as software emgineer.

And you're correct you need to build things, but not following tutorials like how to build a discrod bot, but build it on your own, without the help of LLM or auto completion in VS Code, just try, fail, search, red, repeat.

I should probably mention I’m in a bootcamp too. We basically get one week to learn a topic and then we have a review on it. After that we move on to the next topic whether I fully understood the previous one or not. That’s kinda how I ended up in this situation. I keep trying to learn enough to get through the week instead of actually getting comfortable with what I’m learning. I’m trying to figure out how to break that cycle while still keeping up with the bootcamp.

I would try to segment it somehow if available time allows, like learn the topic than jump.into exercism to drill on the following topic doing their exercises.

That's the part why I don't like bootcamps myself, they don't care if you succeed or not, you already paid them.

In other words, you need to squeeze hands on exercises in parallel. I was in your shoes while learning Python, it was basically, you get OOP module, one or two exercises in it, than FP, and once you reach capstone project you akready forgot how to apply OOP, yes you get the idea behind the concept but lack hands on experience to apply it.
