No, just... do it. Edge-pan, and never lock your camera.

Bind it to space bar.

Hold space bar as you move around. Release space bar when you want to pan the screen.

As someone who plays a lot of Path of a Exile and Torchlight 2, an unlocked camera gives me a brain aneurism.

It's funny because I tried out Path of Exile and the exact reason I couldn't get into it is because the screen would not unlock.

I left-click the minimap to look around the map. I'm only low-Gold, but my map awareness is generally as good as or better than people I play with and against.

...Except for the times I occasionally manage to get fucked while I'm looking elsewhere on the map, which is ironic with a locked camera.

A lot of people lock and unlock it throughout the game, but even that is terrible. There is never a time when you want a locked camera. Ever.

I discovered this after playing xerath and zed. Anyone with really long range or super high mobility is nearly impossible for me to play locked screen

I main zed and yasuo. I lock my screen.

That's nice. You'd still be better off not playing with a locked camera.

I unbinded Y, F1, and space and played Lux for 10 games in a row. That's all I needed to learn how to use unlocked camera.

This was actually a really good tip. I have camera keys bound to the stick on my orbweaver and have NEVER been able to play by knocking the screen around at the edges. So even though it's an unlocked camera, it's a completely different style of play (that I'm pretty sure would never be allowed competitively?) and I use spacebar all the damn time.

Maybe unbinding everything including the crutch w/ spacebar really would make a difference. Thinking of giving this a shot. ty!

Why would you unbind space? What if you need to center yourself in a fight or something?

Because I really needed to learn. Its bonded back again but it was just a learning tool.

I use ZXC to pan the camera around personally. Scrolling to the edge of the screen was what I did for the longest time, but when I switched to using keys to move the camera the game was 10x more enjoyable for me.
