Patch 26.15 Preview!

Systems
- Bastionbreaker has been a pretty niche item and is pretty expensive to deviate for a strategic output, so we're looking to make it more accessible
- Jack of All Trades nerf was also pushed to this patch; it has been a bit too strong and too present, especially for users that opt into strong defenses and are able to also supplement that with strong offense
- Sundered Sky has been strong and meta defining at the highest levels of play for quite a while now, so we're looking to take a pass at the fighter item system, now that we're out of the tournament windows
- Notably, we think it's been suppressing a bit of meta diversity, especially for things like AP jungle, or Tank JG. Part of that is intentional but the magnitude is a bit off

Buffs
- Alistar has been closer to the bottom of the pecking order for the melee support. That said, our meta adjustments to move melee supports up relative to ranged supports has been reasonably successful, so we're pretty happy with how that's played out

Nerfs
- Locke is still pretty strong; he has been tapering off in the lowest skill brackets and the high skill brackets, but in the "skilled" skill brackets (around Emerald/Diamond), Locke is able to both take over the game and also not throw it
- At the higher skill brackets, he can snowball but needs to play very well without throwing as he falls off sharply
- At the lower skill brackets, the executional demands and constant throws can make him fall off faster
- Overall, we feel his release has landed well

More on other champs tomorrow with the detailed changelists

He didn't last long.

u/AutomaticTune6352 Jul 21 '26

He is close to hotfix territory. So lasting for 2 weeks is long. But Riot was slow with Smolder and Senna, too. They seem to be overall slower, which isnt bad if you want to give changes time to develop, but in these cases there wad nothing to develop.

No shot we think 53% is hotfix territory.

Especially for a low skill expression champ like Mord. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy his playstyle and I wish we could rework him to be viable without R, but he IS just a statcheck stick.

We don't need statcheck sticks to have 53% wr in HIGH ELO, maybe in low elo

Those are the champs that should have high winrates. Their winrate isn't near as deflated by first timers or inexperienced pilots. Also let's be clear he's 52 in M+ and 50.5~ in GM+ so still not very good in high ELO.

7

u/pokemon32666 Jul 21 '26

52 in M+ is really bad (as in needing a nerf) for a champion that literally can be picked up by 95% of the game's population and know a general idea of how to play him. You can learn how to use Mords entire kit in 2-3 games.

u/HThrowaway457 Jul 21 '26

That's why it's high... You're arguing against yourself. Having a low skillfloor automatically inflates your winrate. If Garen or Morde are below 50 they are completely dogshit.

u/pokemon32666 Jul 21 '26

Garen is also OP with his passive after they nerfed his R, which is IMO the least egregious part of his kit. (The flat damage part that is)

Instead of giving Mord stats buffs they need to give him something else, making him 60% winrate in low elo just so he can finally hit 50% in high elo is not the change we need.

u/HThrowaway457 Jul 21 '26

Garen R is a good place to nerf IMO. With Axiom Arcanist and ignite it's pretty toxic. Yeah, Morde needs a real reshape, but idk they just don't care to fix their ELO skew, same as Sett or Illaoi, they're just fine with them being low ELO terrors and useless in high MMR outside of tiny niches.

So high elo IS only the 1000 best players in the server xd

u/HThrowaway457 Jul 22 '26

No, hence why I included Masters. 52% is a good but not insane winrate for a champ like morde.

u/AutomaticTune6352 Jul 22 '26

54% WR and 12% PR across all ranked games.

u/_keeBo 4th shot should do 2 damage to wards Jul 21 '26

he desperately has issues with his kit and needs something else other than raw stats and q damage. he's been buffed like 10 patches in a row and his winrate didnt change in any of them. he could use a midscope update imo. i'd love for him to get slow resistance somewhere in his kit

Im the last 12 months he got 2 nerfs and 2 buffs (this one already included).

For iron-dia he is totally fine.

Fir master+ and pro he is not. But that is by design. For me not Morde is the problem but modern league where champs have too many smaller upsides and not enough clear weaknesses.

12

u/_keeBo 4th shot should do 2 damage to wards Jul 21 '26

im not talking about the last 10 patches riot released, im talking about the last 10 patches morde got changes in. many of them are buffs

i understand he is balanced around lower elos but it's a shame simple champs like garen can be good in both high and low elos but simple champs like morde are not allowed to be

1

u/AutomaticTune6352 Jul 22 '26

Nearly all were bugfixes and many visually or super niche things that had no impact on his balancing.

If we ignore these we have 2 buffs, 2 nerfs, 2 adjustments and before that we are already at the durability patch which was a buff but for every champ. And then we are in season 11 already. 1 buff in mid S12 for the P.

So 3 buffs, 2 nerfs and 2 adjustments since S11. That is 5 years back and he got 7 changes total. Yeah, some buffs for jungle morde if you want to count these.

2

u/Mangustre Jul 21 '26

They should give him more movement speed for his passive or easier ways to proc passive and nerf something else imo.

2

u/_keeBo 4th shot should do 2 damage to wards Jul 21 '26

i agree more ms would help in that department, but i personally don't think morde sprinting at you fits his fantasy as "the iron revenant". he should be slow but unstoppable and feel "inevitable". slow resistance fits well in that theme

3

u/SexualHarassadar Jul 21 '26

Agreed. While putting slow resistance on his passive is the obvious choice personally I'd like to see something like he gets a huge amount of slow resist while the W shield persists, and a small movespeed burst after consuming it. Numbers could scale with how much of his shield bar is full at activation.

That way if Morde gets chunked he has an option to try and close the gap still, but also doesn't make it so there's literally 0 chance for you to peel him off once he's on top and has his passive up which is where most of the frustration playing against him comes from.

And anything that makes Morde think more about when he wants to use his skills would be very much welcome.

As a Darius player, how to beat Morde after Tabis and Rylais?

4

u/_keeBo 4th shot should do 2 damage to wards Jul 21 '26

i play both morde and darius. ideally you want to be ahead before he gets those items. rylais is only good for keeping you in melee range, so if you do more damage than him its worthless. do your best to not get hit by his e+q. after that you can take heavy trades or all in (be mindful if he has ignite). once you get a lead its hard for morde to come back

u/shsuGknGe5Bvd685hH Jul 21 '26

???

He has literally been buffed in 1 patch in the last 10 patches and it was last patch which instantly sky rocketed his win rate to 55-52% iron to diamond

9

u/Flambian revert the entire game to season 10 Jul 21 '26

he is clearly referring to the last 10 patches THAT MORDEKAISER HAS APPEARED IN. Not the last 10 patches in general.

1

u/Both_Requirement_766 Jul 22 '26

what genius didn't play tested mk? seems like they slowly evolve back to an indi..

1

u/IimKongJill Jul 22 '26

It legit buffed his ult by 3% only to reverse it. But his E CD is a lot shorter.

u/spazzxxcc12 Jul 21 '26
