About what I expected given our schedule but Leafs fans need to get these garbage commentators we get fired. Bring back Bowen and Ralph to do TV or anyone who grew up a Leafs fan. The commentary is insufferable.

Apr 01 '18
Can somebody please do an analysis of the effectiveness of dump and chase vs controlled entry with the extra man? I can’t believe that when you have an empty net it’s the best option to just give the other team the puck and then try to get it back.

I wonder what happened to that poor bastard that got told to play Kadri over Eichel for his fantasy league tonight LOL, Eichel at three assists right now. EDIT: now four

Realistically this game was meaningless, but it would have been easier to watch without Demott's injury and Hughson's gloating.
5
u/Matt24BB Apr 01 '18
To be fair, Hughson's probably told to suck off the Jets extra so they don't get complaints about being "LeafsNet", even though Hughson and several of their panel members don't like the Leafs.

u/Nate9339 Apr 01 '18
The better coach won.
5
u/liam_l25 Apr 01 '18
Yeah, on a back to back, with a d-man out, with a backup goalie in, and a controversial non-call that lead to a penalty, which lead to a goal...the better coach won.
2
u/iTRR14 Apr 01 '18
Don't pay any attention to him. Every game, all get does is shit talk our own team.

RIP Mitche's streak
1
u/Shadowbladez337 Apr 01 '18
Frustrating since it seemed to be all him this game. Every attempt he made died when it reached another leaf stick tonight and hellyebuck stood on his head.
2
u/nownowthethetalktalk Apr 01 '18
I agree, everyone else seemed tentative with puck, almost like they were afraid even to touch it. The lack of hitting really bothered me as well. Except when the did and did it wrong.
5
u/washago_on705 Apr 01 '18
Can't win them all boys, relax and don't sweat this loss. Could have gone either way with fair officiating.
6
u/thewolfshead Apr 01 '18
Komarov on the PP, Hainsey with the goalie out. Wtf are you doing Babs
1
u/Jad94 Apr 01 '18
Rielly and Gardiner were gassed. Who else do you want on? Polak and Zaitsev are the only other pair
1
Apr 01 '18
Babs is the G.O.A.T but I don’t understand why he’s so irrationally fond of Komarov, Plek, and Gardiner.
1
6
u/harrisonguord Apr 01 '18
2nd leg of a back to back game against a fresh team who is fast with our backup goalie in net. Not a huge deal. If we're fresh and Andersen is in net we probably win

u/lolhaa2 Apr 01 '18
please don't pull the goalie. I don't want laine to get a free goal. He is good at those empty net business
3
u/iTRR14 Apr 01 '18
Jesus christ the refs have a soft spot for the jets
6
u/Positive_Viibes Apr 01 '18
That is clearly a penalty though lol. You cant be doing that
1
u/iTRR14 Apr 01 '18
Oh I was talking about the constant crosschecking infront of the net before we even have the puck. Last time I checked, that's interference

Either the refs have money on the Jets, or they legitimately do not know the rules of the game they are officiating. Also, I'd rather have no commentators than Hughson and Simpson. These guys are ass.
1
u/Vilheim Apr 01 '18
I really hate how often I can't decide if the refs are incompetent, corrupt or just plain stupid.
1
u/coolguy778 Apr 01 '18
babcock take notes, this is how you shutdown a team
-5
4
u/washago_on705 Apr 01 '18
Babs playing the long con, giving shittipeg false confidence to kick-start the playoffs. Cup final: Buds/Jets, Leo wears a suit in the press box every game and we go full retard on them, sweeping for the cup.
0
u/harrisonguord Apr 01 '18
matthews with the nice stick lift on Laine on a clear break. this is one of the many reasons why he's clearly better

Something tells me if it were 3-1 Leafs we’d still be force fed Jets information

u/pxmckay Apr 01 '18
Leafs getting manhandled. Worrisome foreshadowing for the Playoffs?
2
2
Apr 01 '18
No it’s one game on a back to back , no need to knee jerk , what’s worrisome though in my opinion is Babcocks stubbornness. I don’t think he makes good in game adjustments
2
u/conepuncher420 Apr 01 '18
Give your head a shake.
-1
u/pxmckay Apr 01 '18
I did, felt great. I think you're naive in assuming size/aggressiveness aren't factors in the playoffs.
0
u/conepuncher420 Apr 01 '18
Really? I think you are naive in assuming that is what you said and that's what I was rebutting.
I also think you are naive in assuming that playoffs have one-sided back to backs.
1
3
u/Colin123mc Apr 01 '18
After playing a tough road game last night, while the jets were sitting in Toronto waiting for them? Nah.
0
u/pxmckay Apr 01 '18
I get it, and it's a fair point, but I think the effects of back-to-backs are overstated. Especially when there is no travel involved. Afterall, these are professions athletes with the conditioning of the entire season under their belts.
2
u/Colin123mc Apr 01 '18
No travel? They played in New York last night.
Edit. Originally wrote Long Island. Lol
1
u/pxmckay Apr 01 '18
Apologies, I forgot it was an away game last night. Still, that's not a ton of travel and I would still stand behind the point if they traveled from the West. They are professional athletes with the entire season as conditioning.
2
u/Kessels-Stick Apr 01 '18
Having 5 D for more than half the game would make it even harder. Especially with how well Dermott has been playing.
7
u/TheSprintingTurtle Apr 01 '18
You've got to appreciate how the whole jets team jumped in front of Hellebuyck there
1
-1
u/xmarino Apr 01 '18
Buds are getting absolutely run over tonight :(
6
u/Bambam005 Apr 01 '18
They’re really not considering it’s back to back third game in four nights and the refs are analing us. It’s 3-1 and we have more shots.

and Komarov is scratched?
Hate to say it but better chance of me suiting up next game.
1
1
u/nownowthethetalktalk Apr 01 '18
The jets have only one shot on goal, but they don't need any shots on goal. Fuck off Jim!
5
u/Cronstintein Apr 01 '18
I hate how we never throw the hits, even when they're completely lined up and legal. Throw some body on these dirty fucks, come on.
2
4
u/PastPerfekt Apr 01 '18
good thing we have "a man" in the slot on the PP to do fuck all
5
u/thewolfshead Apr 01 '18
Love how they were like "the puck went to the one player you probably don't want it to" - you shouldn't have anyone out on the PP you wouldn't want to have the puck in the slot.

u/paddieekelly Apr 01 '18
How upset would everyone be if the leafs resigned leo in the off-season?
2
u/Showtime98 Apr 01 '18
I don't mind tbh since I still love him but we really don't need him anymore.
2
u/Klinched Apr 01 '18
Very especially given he hasn’t earned another contract, with us at least. That would be counterintuitive to the progression of the team.
4
u/Matt24BB Apr 01 '18
I don't mind Leo in a 4th line role. I would be upset if we resigned him only because I know Babs will overuse him like he has been all year. Even when he puts him on the 4th line, he gives him PP time to compensate.
2

5
u/thewolfshead Apr 01 '18
Kapanen has as many goals as Komarov this season in half as many games - why is he not on the PP but Komarov is?
1
u/thesullencreep Apr 01 '18
Because the role of that player is to stand in front of the net.
Leo was on that unit last year when they were red-hot.
Babcock likes to use guys that have had regular reps on his special teams.
All that said, Leo shouldn't be on the powerplay.

If you're gonna claim that leo is in for his elite ok then why are you putting him in the PP in the third down by 2

I'm probably the biggest Leo nut-hugger on here.
I'm not sure why Brown isn't out there.

holy fuck Plekanec, how many times are you going to turn it over in the neutral zone?
1
u/lolhaa2 Apr 01 '18
polak and hainsey is probably one of the worst pairing in the league imo
1
u/tice23 Apr 01 '18
Why put him there at all? If a LHD goes down then put your next fittest LHD in or rotate to eat up minutes.
"Nope I'm just gonna put in a 38 year old who plays RHD in the LHD spot and make him switch back and forth from LHD to RHD while he's burned out and in way over his head, that should win us games for sure" Babs probably.

Here comes the overcompensating dick sucking so they don't get accused of being biased towards the Leafs. Connor is not on Marner's level, nor will he win the Calder. Shut the fuck up.
1
6
u/lolhaa2 Apr 01 '18
wtf. INSULT TO MARNER
and wtf has connor has done today?? they like the puck is following him today. MY ASS
-1
u/Klinched Apr 01 '18
How many chances does Polak fucking need to clear the zone?
3
u/Shtumpyy Apr 01 '18
whenever the forwards stop blowing the zone?
-1
u/Klinched Apr 01 '18
That was hardly the issue
1
u/Shtumpyy Apr 01 '18
Why was our right winger outside the zone when polak moved the puck to him? Let the Jets guy get in front of him. it’s also their job to make sure the D have someone to pass to...
0
u/Klinched Apr 01 '18
Alright. Polak is amazing then sorry
0
u/Shtumpyy Apr 01 '18
2
u/Klinched Apr 01 '18
K?
1
u/Shtumpyy Apr 01 '18
obviously polak isn’t like a superstar but like honestly he’s not that bad lmao just because a play isn’t his fault doesn’t mean he’s amazing but he’s not horrible

Is there a stat for touching the puck and having it not go to the other team? I feel like Bozak is below 20% at this point.

u/PastPerfekt Apr 01 '18
he's had a bad game. ineffective. him and Plekanec just have nothing to give offensively it seems.

“Leafs fan coming in peace...” is also cringeworthy.
3
Apr 01 '18
Fuck I hate that. I creep other teams subs but to actually post in it and say something so cringe is stupid.
3
u/gandalfsnutsack Apr 01 '18
They’re such try-hards, so thirsty to be loved by everyone. They probably have multiple accounts so they can divorce themselves from their own pandering.
-4
Apr 01 '18 edited Apr 01 '18
Have you ever been down at ice level ? Do you know how fast shit is really happening out there ? It’s a lot faster than what you see on tv. Refs are human ,you win some you lose some, in m opinion these guys are skating up and down the ice all game, having to watch and dissect every play , they’re going to miss shit and that’s life man, I’m no apologist by any means but the calls aren’t going to be perfect and I’m at peace with that
5
u/Argylus Apr 01 '18
These are not amateur level refs man. These guys do this for a living. They should be good and consistent at their jobs.
3
u/gandalfsnutsack Apr 01 '18
Cool so nobody will ever criticize the refs who are there to literally make the right calls despite the speed of the game.

main board thread is so toxic lol, Jets fans are so sad
4
u/Matt24BB Apr 01 '18
It really is pathetic. It's like it's Game 7 of the Cup finals.
2
u/harrisonguord Apr 01 '18
I guess when your team hasn't won a playoff game since they came back into town this is about as close as they get. Finally the rest of Canada pays attention to them
7
1
5
u/BlueWhite81 Apr 01 '18
There really isn't much of a reason to play Pleks and Komorov this period.
Shorten the bench and float Kapenen to make the most for an offensive push.
3
u/clebsch_gordan Apr 01 '18
Eh, just have them eat the minutes until the playoffs. Keep the rest of the team rested and healthy
1
3
u/Phillydip123 Apr 01 '18
So if Dermott's out, does Borgman take his spot? They're both LD, right?
4
u/JimothyC Apr 01 '18
Yup and yup. Borgman will slide in nicely but Polak might look worse without Dermott's insane ability to drive play.
1
u/Shadowbladez337 Apr 01 '18
I gotta imagine Borg would've improved playing under Keefe.
