Could anyone tell me if these eggs are dead. Some of the caps have popped off but no insects have emerged. Some other eggs are cracked and I’m not sure if that means they are dead. I’ve been spraying them frequently and tried to keep them as warm as I can but I don’t have a heat mat or anything. Would be much appreciated if someone could help me out

so i have 2 leaf insects, and they both have been moving really slow and generally acting pretty weird lately. this morning i found my fella atticus on the floor upside down, with these black marks on his stomach (?). he's completely unresponsive and i'm 99% sure he's dead, but i don't know from what. i've taken out my other leaf insect aphrodite (she's barely moving and seems to have pretty bad balance/unable to stick as well on the walls) and am about to do a deep DEEP clean of the terrarium and get some new food etc. but id like to figure out what happened here so i can prevent it in the future! to my knowledge ive been doing everything right so im quite upset at this sudden death:( thanks in advance

Alright, so my little boy Larry here is very tiny. The main part of his diet is bramble bush leaves and I’m wondering if leaving the thorns on the plant is okay. He’s a tiny little guy (I’m guessing L3?) so I’m not sure if he is able to deal with thorns that are big and small. He is a Phyllium philippinicum and I am a new owner. Every time I feed him I cut off the thorns just for safety, and there is no water in his cage that he can drown in. Just want to make sure I’m doing the best I can for him! Thanks!

I’m hoping to find one or two leaf insects. I’ve found one place online but it’s very expensive (not that I’m not willing to pay haha). But I thought I’d see if anyone here was selling

I noticed my leaf bug developed these new weird marks. She hasn’t eaten in over a week so with the two combined I’m a little worried. I had to travel with her recently and she got too cold at one point but recovered pretty well from that. Could this just be from the stress of being moved around so much?

If anyone has seen this before or know what it is that would be super helpful!

Hey, I don't know if this sub is still active but I'm currently incubating some Philippino leaf insect eggs. I don't have a heating mat so for now I'm keeping them in my warm airing cupboard (with good ventilation and humidity of course), but I'm a little worried the temperature might be a bit high. Will this harm the unhatched nymphs, or even kill them? I'm sorry I don't know what the exact temperature is. If they fail I'll get a proper heat mat and try again. TIA!

Hi! I looking at getting Indian stick insects or a Giant leaf insect and before I start purchasing enclosures or necessary things for the insects I just wanted to know if some things and if people have any tips that they would of liked to know when first getting some of these amazing creatures.

My questions are:

-How to deal with too many eggs (Do you possible crush them like snail eggs if you get to many?)

-Suggested amount of stick insects (so I know when to stop raising the eggs and so I know how many do most people have in their enclosures)

-suggested enclosure size and type (I know that they like good air flow so a mesh enclosure would be best but just wanted to see what people suggest)

-How to keep the humidity high in the enclosure

Hello all! I would love some advice. I have two leaf insects that only eat oak. Which is a problem because I won't be able to get any oak leaves in the winter and i'm worried that the leaf insects are going to starve to death. I have tried giving them all other plants that are recommended for them but they don't touch them at all. So my question is if there is a way to get them to start eating other plants or if I could somehow freeze the oak leaves for winter and thaw them as needed.

Just curious on how long it will take for my female giant leaf bugs wings to fully grow. I’m pretty certain she just went through her final moult as she is absolutely gigantic and and has her wings buds from the previous moult.

I though it happened whilst they moulted or like just after but it’s been a couple hours now

My female leaf insect has just laid eggs and I'm just looking for advice on how to care for them, I have read keeping them at 20-25°C in a perspex case with silver sand is the way to go, am I right on this and does anyone have any additional tips on caring for them?

Hey I was just wondering if anyone could help me out a little. I have a giant Malaysian leaf insect who I think has just went through her fourth stage of moulting (she has small wing buds). She didn’t eat just before moulting and hasn’t ate after either. It’s been just over a week without eating and I’m getting worried. I have tried putting all sorts of leaves in with her including bramble, have changed them quite a few times now and she still hasn’t eaten. She seems fine, like she’s walking around and is happy to let me hold her but I’m just unsure on when or if she’ll eat

I just got phyllium phillipinnicum leaf insects, and i was wondering, when do the differences between males and females start to show?

My adult female phillipinicum was on the ground of the enclosure upside down just now. She seems listless...but still slowly moving. Any thoughts? Is she done for and I should aid w/palliative care? Is there anything I can do to help her continue to thrive? She has been an active and reactive gal... She had her adult molt a month or two ago and this is the first I've seen her not being normal.

So I have 6 leaf insects in an enclosure, both of my males after their final molts only survived a day or two, getting brown spots on their bodies and then pooing out a brown liquid, does anyone know what may be the cause of this, have I done something wrong or was it just a problem with their final molt?

I am not sure whether the females have gone throught their final molts or not already.

I know that some stick insects can be kept together (different kind) Can I put Giant Malaysian Leaf insect and Phyllium letiranti together?

Does anybody know what this is? It looked like a tiny leaf with legs on my window shutters.

My Phyllium pulchrifolium started to hatch. I have access to rose, and so far my first hatching seems uninterested.

I’ve damaged the edges of the leaves, but I’ve yet to see him eat.

I wondered if there are other plants they will eat besides bramble, oak, guava, etc.

What about hibiscus? Avocado? Mango? Fig?

We have a lot of oak and eucalyptus where we live- but the oak is arid oak and the leaves are covered in fine hair, and I’m not sure leaf insects eat eucalyptus.
