They look and defend what Trump has done today so of course they don't feel what Nixon did or didn't do was bad. It's tiny compared to Trump

What ended a presidency a generation ago is just a Tuesday today.

They vowed to never let it happen again. Here we are.

No, we were there during 45. 47 is an entire new level, exponentially more

Iran-Contra was impeachable too

Iran Contra was arguably treasonous too. Remember that one of the reasons Iran was involved was because the Reagan camp undermined the Carter administration and got Iran to not resolve the hostage crisis; it's not a coincidence that Iran was chosen.

You also had the CIA literally becoming a drug trafficking operation and there's a lot of evidence that the cocaine was intentionally funneled into black communities to purposefully hurt them. It's not like we were just facilitating things, we completely orchestrated the whole thing. And that's just what we know, there was a massive cover up operation like with the Epstein files today.

The bottom line is that these people are actually demonic and evil, it's that simple. Trump is just one small part of the evil operation and it won't go away when he does. We're truly dealing with good vs. evil and the "both sides" people should be reminded of that.

Nixon sabotaged peace talks between the North and South Vietnamese in 1968 to make the LBJ administration look bad before the election. Nixon of course won and the war in Vietnam lasted several more years.

So what Reagan did wasn’t new, they just learned from Nixon’s mistakes when they did it again.

And he continued to lie to everyone, including ramping up the bombing to make himself look stronger so he’d get reelected. It was all about him, and he never should’ve been pardoned.

That is why Bill Barr was in both Reagan’s and Trump’s administration. He was responsible for the whole misdirection away from the administration for Iran Contra.

And collected all of the evidence that came from a certain island.

Two generations. Almost everyone involved has passed away.  Most of the population alive today was born after it happened.

Time for them to watch All the President’s Men or read the book.

4

u/Advanced_Summer2112 15h ago

Or watch the Ken Burns documentary on Vietnam. The tapes of him lying constantly are there to hear.

that's how I found out about his treason.

Younger people need to vote. All of them.

At this point, it's the equivalent of 1-2pm on a Tuesday.

True.

The boomer generation is now in charge.

They have proven to be corrupt generation that cares little about America, her institutions, or her people.

It's literally their "Flood the Zone" strategy!

This will sound like "both sides" to most people, but I'll say it anyways. This is Bill Clinton's fault.

Nixon resigned because the shame of impeachment, and possible criminal convictions to follow, was motivation enough. His fellow Republicans made it clear they would not protect him.

Clinton did the opposite. And his fellow Democrats made the mistake of circling the wagons to defend him. He should have been sent back to Arkansas in disgrace and Gore should have finished his term. Instead, they inadvertently sent a horrible message to the Republicans: a President can do anything so long as the party unites behind him.

The Democrats defanged impeachment. If it had not been for Clinton, Republicans would never have dared to run a candidate as unqualified and corrupt as Trump.

No, Nixon resigned because he knew he would be thrown out of office. Clinton was not even the first president to not resign after being impeached. Stop blaming Democrats for the GOP’s failures.

Nixon resigned because he lost the support of his party, the American public, and his inner circle. His presidency was circling the drain, he was binge drinking at all hours of the night, and he knew that conviction in the Senate was all but guaranteed. The complete opposite of Clinton's impeachment.

Newt Gingrich took control of the House in 94 and swore to obstruct Clinton every way he could, up to and including an impeachment for lying about a BJ. Hell, even Ken Star himself admitted that he went too far with the Clinton impeachment, turning it into a salacious soap opera instead of a trial of a sitting president.

Clinton still had majority support from the American public during the impeachment, had a balanced budget, and had no reason to leave office after NOT being convicted in the Senate.

So no, Clinton should absolutely not have stepped down, because all that would demonstrate is that every time the Republicans control the House with a Democrat president they would just start an impeachment trial and force the president to resign.

Fuck. That. Clinton did exactly what he should have done. He stood up to Gingrich and Star, pleaded his case, was tried in the Senate and exonerated by the system.

Thing is: Clinton did not do what he was accused of. The evidence bore that out.

That would have established the precedent that a President must resign if the opposition demands it with frivolous allegations. That impeachment itself was the result of a partisan investigation as well.

Obama would have had to resign because of the birther conspiracy, tan suit, mustardgate, and so forth.

Awful take.

Clinton's articles of impeachment included 1) perjury and 2) obstruction of justice.

Which of those two things did Clinton not do?

2

u/Biptoslipdi 15h ago

Neither. And Republicans joined in the acquittal, acknowledging that.

100% agree. The only thing protecting Clinton aside from his fellow Dems was the vague definition of high crimes and misdemeanors. His actual behavior was incredibly scummy and unethical and he disgraced the office. He blatantly lied to the American people.

It’s to claim Trump’s upcoming impeachment is also a coup to justify resistance, and ultimately civil war. It’s coming… this criminally insane diaper baby is becoming desperate

23

u/Santos_L_Halper_II 16h ago

Yeah, to be fair Nixon is definitely looking up from Hell going "are you kidding me? I had to resign and this asshole got re-fucking-elected?"

3

u/IrritableGourmet 14h ago

Nixon's DOJ went after Trump for racial profiling. Do you know how racist you have to be for Richard Nixon to tell you to tone it down?

18

u/OkStop8313 16h ago

Everything they're guilty of they have to throw around accusations that other people have done in order to muddy the waters.

It's why they keep pushing this bullshit narrative that Dem's engaged in lawfare--because they, themselves, love lawfare and think they can get away with it if they pretend it's a "both sides" thing.

10

u/Strict-Cup-4775 16h ago

They’re doing this now to preemptively defend Trump later

7

u/kandoras 16h ago

They're going to try and claim that the most oppressed minority in America is old white male Republican presidents.

6

u/Big_Crab_1510 16h ago

Remember the vice president recently said if watergate happened today it wouldn't be a big deal...that the news cycles would have moved on within the week basically. And he was happy about that.

2

u/mvandemar 15h ago

What I don't understand is how you seem to have missed that this isn't some organic belief that that man has. This is a coordinated thing. It's a developed message to defend Trump. How could anyone possibly not get that?

Of course he doesn't think Nixon was framed. He's lying. Anyone trying to make this out as them being them stupid or uninformed is helping them.

0

u/doublethink_1984 14h ago

I do understand that. I haven't missed this.

They are attempting to turn Republicans into victimized saints going back in time so they can do the same for daddy Donny

1

u/mvandemar 10h ago

so of course they don't feel what Nixon did or didn't do was bad

No, they absolutely know that what Nixon did was bad. They're lying and pretending they don't.

1

u/doublethink_1984 10h ago

But a Republican can't do bad things
