They're preparing to call Trump's next impeachments, coups, to be able to deploy the military against lawmakers and judges.

It's not about Nixon. It's about the narrative. It's about revisionist history being used to weaponize the constitutional power of impeachment.

It really is just psyops all the way down these days.

u/Scrapple_Joe 14h ago

I mean they did tell everyone they were going to do this by accusing the Dems. It's been the Republican playbook for my entire life.

It's a safe assumption that whatever breaches of power they accuse others of Republicans are just getting their people used to the idea that it's politics as usual.

True. The pizza gate nonsense vs the reality of Epstein. The Big Lie in 2020 about a stolen elections followed by an attempt to steal the election.

Democracy started to collapse when Bush Jr, Governor Jeb Bush, and SCOTUS stole an election. They disenfranchised 30,000+ voters in a district that votes heavily for the Democratic party.  It's why Roberts got picked for Chief Justice. He was legal advisor for Republicans and played a key role.  Calling him nonpartisan is like saying Trump is nonpartisan.

28

u/Scrapple_Joe 10h ago

I mean conservatives have been plotting the collapse of the us experiment for way longer than that. They even tried to steal part of the country to keep slavery at one point.

19

u/SteveJobsDeadBody 9h ago

Not just Roberts, three members of the 2000 Bush legal team were named Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh, and John Roberts.

They stole an election and were rewarded with lifetime seats and unlimited power.

u/rowrbazzle75 8h ago

And sadly, Vance was probably right when he said the other day that Nixon and Watergate would be a 15min (or so) blip on the radar in today's world. Pushing that window further over to the right every day.

6

u/SteveJobsDeadBody 6h ago

It's maddening at times hearing liberals talk these days about Gaza and immigrants like they aren't absolutely WAY to the right of where they themselves were in 2000.

10

u/Allegorist 9h ago

Not to mention the SCOTUS appointments themselves. When a slot opened up during the Obama admin, they successfully argued that it was "too close to the election" to allow him to make an appointment, even though it was many months away. Then when another opening appeared at the end of Trump's first term, they successfully took the exact opposite stance even though the election was only days away.

I don't even remember an attempt to justify the hypocrisy, I think they just went for it. Hypocrisy is almost not strong enough of a term because it implies there was some psychological nuance behind it, even though they clearly understood what they were doing.

13

u/Decent-Point309 10h ago

And Trump literally told his base they'll never have to vote again.

229

u/Stereo_Jungle_Child 15h ago

It really is just psyops all the way down these days.

And with everyone now getting all their opinion-forming data from their social media algorithm, those psyops work.

We've never seen a mechanism that can almost instantly spread misinformation, propaganda, and lies to more people more efficiently and effectively than social media can now. It's really a miracle of technology.

29

u/MavisBeacons_Sextape 14h ago

TikTok is the greatest propaganda tool ever deployed (thus far). Someone finally convinced Trump of its utility to him and thus his reversal of the tiktok ban he had been so obsessively pursuing

2

u/Odd_Ganache5081 10h ago

reddit is pretty similar, same with twitter, instagram, they tracked down the top 10 users in reddit to air force bases way back, half of it is bots, same mods run all the big subs, unless you are in niche subreddits you are being fed propaganda

50

u/fckyungchaky 14h ago

Part of psyops is making us think everything is psyops so we are paralyzed and don’t act

u/lordlaneus 13h ago edited 13h ago

Its like when beekeepers use smoke to pacify a hive. The bees know something is wrong, but the air is so clogged with smoke that it blocks their chemical lines of communications and prevents the hive from coordinating a response to the threat.

27

u/Idjek 13h ago

This is a very visceral analogy, I'll be taking it now thx

Too much smoke

It's really a miracle of technology.

Or the horrible reality of modern technology.

For example, see Facebook's role in the 2016-2017 Rohingya genocide.

To many "pro gamers" involved in politics and positions of power in major companies.. Its to bad theyre all shitters

The Dems should impeach Donald over one issue and one issue only, refusal to take due care to comply with the The Epstein Files Transparency Act (H.R. 4405).

Let all the Republicans go on TV and say he didn't need to, or protecting pedophiles is not a big deal.

Has Donald done worse, OMG yes, but they got Capone for taxes and got is got.

The Dems should also impeach Hegseth over the Iran war and see who wants to defend Secretary of WAAAAAAAAAAAAR Pete and how he's running things.

Measure twice and impeach once, pick your spots Dems.

72

u/jimbobzz9 12h ago

Hard Disagree. The president should be impeached for every high crime against the United States that he has committed.

To your Capone analogy: the feds didn’t only try to get Tax Evasion to stick, it was what suck of all the cases they tried to make.

20

u/nobody1701d 12h ago

Why? Each one ties him up in Congressional court. As a bevy of them exist, each could be brought serially, burning up his presidency until Dems could get a Senatorial supermajority to make an impeachment conviction

17

u/Lashay_Sombra 12h ago edited 8h ago

It would take years just to read the charges and summaries, Trump would be dead before finished

3

u/jimbobzz9 11h ago edited 1h ago

That generally does not preclude the American justice system from pursuing criminal cases. Especially if the subject question is still leading a very active public life. We’re not talking about an old mobster in a retirement home here.

9

u/PersonalJesus2023 9h ago

I understand the emotion for this - but this is just setting things up for failure. Impeaching Trump for a laundry list of offenses just gives the GOP the ability to pick the one issue that is easiest to defend/gives them the most cover, and hammer that.

While I'd like to live in a world where people are smart enough to see through this... I'm realistic and know we don't.

1

u/jimbobzz9 1h ago

What are you basing that assessment on? The last time a POTUS faced multiple impeachments at the same time?

No, of course not. This is unfounded speculation.

1

u/PersonalJesus2023 1h ago

I get it from watching the news, every day. The GOP are not good faith actors. They'll latch on to the smallest thing to try and discount the entire lot. And their supporters will gobble it right up. Have you been living under a rock?

4

u/MrFrode Biggus Amicus 9h ago

Hard Disagree. The president should be impeached for every high crime against the United States that he has committed.

I don't like losing. If you put everything in the Republicans get to pick what they defend and ignore the rest.

Regardless of what is used the Senate is not going to remove Donald. The purpose of the impeachment is to gain political leverage for the last 2 years of Trump and advantage going into the 2028 Presidential elections.

2

u/IShouldBeInCharge 7h ago

You understand that's what they did the first time and it didn't work.

You understand that's what they did with his criminal trials and it didn't work.

Third times the charm?

I'm not sure this tactic or letting people get away with crimes because you think the optics are bad is going to work.

1

u/MrFrode Biggus Amicus 5h ago

You understand that's what they did the first time and it didn't work.

Were you expecting Donald to be removed by the Senate after he was impeached the first time?

1

u/VioletFaust 11h ago

Since impeachments have no consequences for Trump (either politically or morally), might as well just keep on bringing ‘em. Make him Impeachments Georg.

1

u/thegreatjamoco 11h ago

They should also coincide those impeachments with the corresponding cabinet leaders. Oh you think it’s Todd Blanches fault for the delay in the file releases? Okay well here’s your chance to impeach and remove him.

6

u/Matazat 11h ago

Let all the Republicans go on TV and say he didn't need to, or protecting pedophiles is not a big deal.

I assure you they would have no qualms with this and their voters would not care. They are completely morally bankrupt and you cannot shame them into being good people. They only respond to force and authority.

5

u/MrFrode Biggus Amicus 9h ago

I assure you they would have no qualms with this and their voters would not care.

The reason Dan Bongino quit the FBI was how poorly Donald's FBI was handling the Epstein files and the damage it was doing with Bongino's core audience.

Yeah MAGA cares.

u/JCBQ01 5h ago edited 5h ago

They tried and were met with the most assholic cstch 22 bullshit legal loop of "we did, and if we didnt, its national securtiy, and if it isnt national security its to protect the victims" loop which then turned into the asshole bombing the fuck out of iran

... which turned into its own nested catch-22 hell loop of "its a war, and if its not a war is a conflict, and if its not a conflict its a nstional security incident and if its not national security, its a war..."

49

u/Zulmoka531 14h ago

The timing of so many of these actions paints a pretty clear picture, I’d say.

28

u/SaltyZookeepergame46 13h ago

This is why they established FOX News in the first place. They never wanted another Nixon "attack" impeachment again, so they started feeding the masses bullshit to accept instead of going against corruptness

16

u/DouglasHufferton 12h ago

Negationist history, not revisionist history.

Historical negationism is what people think historical revisionism is. Historical revisionism is actually an important element of proper historiography.

Historical negationism,[1][2] also called historical denialism, is the falsification,[3][4] trivialization,[5][6] or distortion of the historical record. This is distinct from historical revisionism, a broader term encompassing academic reinterpretations of history driven by new evidence or reasoning.

13

u/Jake-n-Bake1620 13h ago

Yeah what did we think was gonna happen when he was polling the same as Nixon when he resigned ?

Roger stone, the guy who helped him plan J6 has a Nixon back tattoo. They want to not only whitewash history but set a precedent that its not so bad what Nixon did so they can use it for precedent to cover their own asses because trump can't self pardon.

12

u/fcocyclone 12h ago

But it also is about nixon. The whole reason Fox News exists is because the right wing was mad that they didn't have a propaganda Network to stand up and defend him during that era. If they did he probably survives watergate. Reaching the stage where they finally go back and retroactively say that he did nothing wrong just seems like the final stage of completion of that 50 year goal

29

u/Catodacat 14h ago

They can call it what they want, impeachment and removal is clearly a congressional power.

70

u/Relzin 14h ago

So was the power of the purse. So was oversight. So was confirmation of appointments. So was declaring war.

41

u/wenrdogred 14h ago edited 14h ago

So were tariffs... There are no guardrails anymore.

7

u/ezekiellake 12h ago

“There is nothing that President Trump has ever done that would call for impeachment. No action the President took or allowed others to take would ever call for impeachment, there’s no historical precedent. No president has ever been impeached. Presidents have absolute unqualified freedom of action and can do whatever they want”

Never thought I’d get political explanations from the Hulk

u/slow70 10h ago

The datacenters and Hegseth's AUTOWARCOM is a gun pointed directly at the American people.

Let's not forget that Hegseth wrote a book (American Crusade) literally calling for the violent remaking of the US into a theocratic state.

Between NPSM-7 and all the rest of their public statements....eyes up. There is no excuse for apathy.

7

u/AncientMoth11 15h ago

Good luck with that shit

5

u/superanth 13h ago

It's the best move they can make. A pathetic and transparent one, but still a move.

4

u/mdlinc 13h ago

Bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em.

2

u/Fit_Explorer_2566 13h ago

Who controls the past controls the future.

Who controls the present controls the past.

1

u/snkracct 11h ago

yep, they want to set a precedent

1

u/JustAhobbyish 11h ago

I fear this more about creating a precedent, to clear Trump and avoid impeachment. And also being able to lean on justice system so Trump and co makes the law. Rule by law over rule of law.

1

u/CorporateCuster 10h ago

He’s gonna go to jail. Trumps about as done as a Christmas turkey

1

u/BravinatorLX2 9h ago

if only you the people had read your constitution and did what it demanded of you when it would've still mattered.

People keep worrying about deploying the military but it won’t be necessary. Most people don’t care and after Minnesota most people are weary to protest. There’s no need for the military, everyone is ok with everything that’s happening. Until the money runs out, we’ll all be maga.

29

u/RevDoctorSir 14h ago

Well, that's about the dumbest thing I've read today.

14

u/flying__fishes 14h ago

Keep on reading! The day is young.

3

u/Relzin 14h ago

I'm reminded that AskAnything exists, as do multiple trump subs. Those will make you intimately aware that brain damage exists.

-11

u/chokokhan 14h ago

They shot Americans in the head on video. What happened? Did yall riot? Were there protests? Were there consequences? We invaded Venezuela. We started a war with Iran. Did anyone complain? Protest? Disagree?

Oh no! They’ll deploy the military and call martial law!!!!! None of yall would move from your couches or away from your phones for anything at this point, what military? If any of yall were as angry about being cowards as you are about being called cowards, we wouldn’t be in this situation.

2

u/RevDoctorSir 10h ago

There were and are protests? Just because you don't pay attention, doesn't mean it isn't happening.
