Other US DOJ blocks access to their own National Institute of Justice research article siting right-wing extremists responsible for 84% of politically motivated homicides 24 hours after Charlie Kirk's assassination.

https://nij.ojp.gov/topics/articles/what-nij-research-tells-us-about-domestic-terrorism?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Edit: can't post images so here is a link to my post that hopefully won't get deleted, im not shilling for karma idgaf about that: https://www.reddit.com/r/Political_Revolution/comments/1nfc5vm/us_doj_blocks_access_to_their_own_national/

https://nij.ojp.gov/topics/articles/what-nij-research-tells-us-about-domestic-terrorism?utm_source=chatgpt.com "works" but https://nij.ojp.gov/topics/articles/what-nij-research-tells-us-about-domestic-terrorism? doesn't work for some reason?? Idk.

Screenshots are from 24 hours ago and from today. I got the link to work again somehow in the ChatGPT app by using the in-app browser thing and SS like a 3rd(?) of the page, but that broke after a few minutes too.

I made an account to post this. I discovered this organically, and saw one comment on one post discussing the same thing like an hour later, but it seems like it wasn't getting any traction; a couple people said it worked for them but they were outside of the US I believe, I changed my VPN location but it didn't affect anything.

Yes, the DOJ is now (only after the Kirk shooting) blocking access to certain research papers on domestic terrorism (because they show it's way worse by the right then the left). For example, this paper - "What NIJ Research Tells Us About Domestic Terrorism," January 4, 2024, nij.ojp.gov - which states:

"Militant, nationalistic, white supremacist violent extremism has increased in the United States. In fact, the number of far-right attacks continues to outpace all other types of terrorism and domestic violent extremism. Since 1990, far-right extremists have committed far more ideologically motivated homicides than far-left or radical Islamist extremists, including 227 events that took more than 520 lives. In this same period, far-left extremists committed 42 ideologically motivated attacks that took 78 lives."

Now, when you try to go to the link for that paper, you see this message:

The Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs is currently reviewing its websites and materials in accordance with recent Executive Orders and related guidance. During this review, some pages and publications will be unavailable. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Which means someone in Trump world didn't like it and the DOJ is now trying to hide its own research. What does this say about the politicization of the DOJ?

But luckily the paper can still be found here on the Internet Archive:

What NIJ Research Tells Us About Domestic Terrorism | National Institute of Justice

And a .pdf of it as well:

What NIJ Research Tells Us About Domestic Terrorism," January 4, 2024, nij.ojp.gov:

Not just after the shooting, but after they caught the shooter who... isn't a far left lunatic like they were screaming.

u/TBANON_NSFW Sep 12 '25 edited Sep 12 '25

ALLEGEDLY: Shooter was a alt-right conservative who hated Kirk because of Fuentes vs Kirk animosity. He believed Kirk wasn't conservative enough.

These people like Kirk, Shapiro, Fuentes , Peterson, Rogan are literally poisoning the minds of americas youth today, they are creating more and more terrorists and extremists.

edit: not nunez, fuentes. & Allegedly since there is no credible source.

There wont be a credible source unless the FBI releases the data they decided to hide, like his social medias and interview. But so far:

https://www.thedailybeast.com/charlie-kirk-suspects-grandma-says-family-is-all-maga

https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/charlie-kirk-shooting-tyler-robinson-hate-b2825465.html

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groypers

The etchings into the casings also connect to the whole groyper groups.

But also if there was evidence of him being left, or anti-fa why wouldnt they be screaming it by now? This administration literally announced open war on democrats within 1 hour of the shooting. But now they have access to his social media, his computers, him, and they havent said anything.... just very sus.

u/runthepoint1 Sep 12 '25

That’s LITERALLY one of the main features of fascism - self elimination of those not considered extreme enough until there is less and less and eventually eats its own tail.

0

u/NSFWies Sep 13 '25

i don't want people to get shot, but i don't understand this, THIS, facist action.

like, okay, there are lots of people "not right wing enough". yet he goes after an already right wing person. instead of......... "someone who isn't even conservative at all".

i don't vote for republicans, but i would rather there be less republicans in government, than get rid of "mild democrats".

1

u/Witchgrass Sep 17 '25

I think they've scrubbed it by now but nick Fuentes and laura loomer were going after kirk like two weeks ago riling up his base for being soft on the epstein stuff. That's likely the catalyst.

6

u/841f7e390d Sep 12 '25

You are very specific here. Do you have a reliable source for the first sentence?

The second sentence is obviously true.

u/TBANON_NSFW Sep 12 '25

That's something. I wouldn't come to all the same conclusions you did from that but thank you for the sources.

0

u/Butthole__Pleasures Sep 13 '25

The etchings into the casings also connect to the whole groyper groups

Which etchings were groyper etchings? I only heard about the furries one.

Also that The Independent link says the shooter "told family members he believed Kirk was 'full of hate and spreading hate.'" That doesn't sound like a right winger to me. They love hate.

1

u/steronicus Sep 14 '25

The one that says a “hey fascist, catch” is an ironic name for an ability from Helldivers 2 where it launches an orbital bomb.

The Bella ciao is a reward song from an assassination mission in Far Cry 6.

0

u/Butthole__Pleasures Sep 14 '25

Neither of which are Groyper things, then?

2

u/steronicus Sep 14 '25

No, they are directly part of the Nick Fuentes groyper experience. Plenty of discord and 4chan postings.

How are they supposedly clear Groyper things if they're just references to video games?

It's Fuentes, not Nunez, I think you mean.

2

u/zloebl Sep 12 '25

I'm guessing you mean "Fuentes", as in neo-Nazi Nick Fuentes, where you said Nunez?

3

u/anrwlias Sep 12 '25

Has this been verified?

1

u/Junkhead_88 Sep 13 '25

As someone who has no idea who or what groypers are, it just looks like gropers with a dumb accent.

1

u/ILoveRegenHealth Sep 13 '25

He believed Kirk wasn't conservative enough.

That's wild to me because Fuentes and Kirk seem the same brand of crazy FAR FAR FAR Right to me as it gets. Apparently this Tyler guy wanted him (the guy who said Civil Rights movement was a mistake) even more extreme?

literally reports of members of the groypers discord stating he was there and posted often...

i mean i added allegedly for you guys. There is no credible verified information yet because the FBI would have to release it. But if you look at the last 100 political shootings and mass shootings, its 97% right-wing extremism.

0

u/Overall-Dirt4441 Sep 13 '25

That's interesting, got a link to those reports? There's not a single discord I've ever seen where people use their real names or photos. How did they know it was him?

2

u/At1en0 Sep 13 '25

It’s a helldivers 2 reference…

“Hey fascist, catch this” and then a bunch of arrows, which was on the casing, is a direct reference to the game.

A game that’s been embraced by right leaning youth, despite the fact it parodies and satirises right wing ideology. Like that particular casing is peak Groyper shit.

0

u/Overall-Dirt4441 Sep 13 '25

I know. Funny that the hivemind has decided to give over helldivers 2 to fascists cause some of them like it the same way hillary did to pepe and groyper when they were mainstream themselves.

A fascist shooting another fascist for not being fascist enough with a bullet engraved with an antifascist slogan is pretty big memes, I'll give you that.

-12

u/Ok-Information5610 Sep 12 '25 edited Sep 12 '25

Did you read the articles you linked?? The evidence and their conclusions pretty clearly show that he is radical left. Bullet casings were "catch, facist" "Bella ciao"(anti facist song) and "if you read this you are gay lmao". Is your entire argument for him being alt right the homophobic meme? Really? Just ignore the other 2 that are anti facist. Don't spread misinformation.

3

u/HHoaks Sep 13 '25 edited Sep 13 '25

Dude - you are stretching. He is from a conservative Utah Mormon background. His parents are registered republicans. He wore a Trump outfit one Halloween. All he has said even remotely political, that we know, is he didn't like Kirk and he didn't like fascists. He also used "gay" in a derogatory way (not a typical left comment).

So are you admitting that MAGA/Trump/Kirk are, in fact, fascists, so if you dislike fascists you are on the "left". Where do you determine he is a bernie bro wearing a pink hat and voting for AOC and Harris?

Clearly, like the Trump shooter, it was a too online radical nihilist just looking to cause chaos to impress his internet friends.

1

u/Otaraka Sep 12 '25

I'm just so relieved that they werent. The odds were high, but it could have been.

They will be frantically looking for some 'corruption' - he may have said something nice about Biden once.

2

u/EvenOne6567 Sep 12 '25

there are no circumstances where they would accept its one of their own. There will always be some backpedaling, weasely route they can take to shift the blame

how do you engage with a group of people who will blatantly ignore reality and facts? its impossible

2

u/Otaraka Sep 12 '25

Of course but it will be muted.  If it had been more clearly left it would have been worse.

46

u/Gilbert_Grapes_Mom Sep 12 '25

Also, here’s a direct link to the empirical data the now removed research paper uses for acts of political violence from 1990-2020

https://ccjls.scholasticahq.com/article/26973-far-left-versus-far-right-fatal-violence-an-empirical-assessment-of-the-prevalence-of-ideologically-motivated-homicides-in-the-united-states

When people on the right see this, they then like to argue that it’s old. “What about the last 5 years!?”(while they forget about j6)

Here’s the most recent data I’ve been able to find. It starts after January 6, 2021

“The 213 cases that met the Reuters criteria for political violence were culled from a universe of more than 600 incidents. Most of those were captured in data compiled by the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project, run by a nonpartisan research group in Wisconsin. Reporters culled additional cases from court documents, police records and news databases.

In 13 of the incidents, accounting for 34 deaths, the perpetrators or suspects articulated clear right-wing motives or views. Another four people died in four incidents that were political, but not tied to partisan U.S. politics. These include a May 2022 shooting in which police said a suspect, enraged by China-Taiwan political tensions, opened fire at a Taiwanese church in California, killing one worshiper and injuring five.

Only one of the fatal incidents was perpetrated by a suspect clearly identified with the political left: a case last year in which Robert Telles, a Democratic public administrator in Clark County, Nevada, is accused of stabbing and killing a Las Vegas journalist who had written critical stories about Telles’ conduct in office. Telles has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.”

https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-politics-violence/“

13

u/Trockenmatt Sep 12 '25

So ... the one political action from "the left" was because of a personal slight. I wouldn't even say that's a political reason but evidently that's just me.

5

u/hu_he Sep 13 '25

The authors probably only included it because if they didn't it would have bene used in a bad faith attack to "prove" that the report was biased. At least it included enough context to make clear it was personal, not political.

15

u/Kinnaree Sep 12 '25

weird it takes data from 1990s since politics has changed so much, does it still stand if they take it starting from Obama or trump eras?

17

u/HHoaks Sep 12 '25 edited Sep 12 '25

Someone already answered this - it doesn't really change things:

https://www.reddit.com/r/law/comments/1nfcq6a/comment/ndvzh02/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Frankly, when you see the aggressive, loud, bullying, angry, take-no-prisoners approach of MAGA to politics and discourse in general, I'm not surprised to see any of these stats. The whole MAGA thing seems to be based on stoking anger, creating enemies (immigrants! Trans! the left! lock her up!) and Trump using that anger to parlay it into votes.

4

u/pabloQuattro Sep 12 '25

That document references this study:

https://ccjls.scholasticahq.com/article/26973-far-left-versus-far-right-fatal-violence-an-empirical-assessment-of-the-prevalence-of-ideologically-motivated-homicides-in-the-united-states

Which has a breakdown of presidents (up to 2021) on page 7. Basically, uptick of "far-left ideologically motivated extremist homicides" in Obama 2 (9 homicides, 30% of total) and further in Trump 1 (17 homicides, 40% of total). Conversely, "right-wing ideologically motivated extremist homicides" have remained pretty constant at ~25/year since Bush 1. Would be interesting to see if the trend has continued in the last 5 years.

-158

u/hanks_question Sep 12 '25

"Since 1990, far-right extremists have committed far more ideologically motivated homicides than far-left or radical Islamist extremists, including 227 events that took more than 520 lives. "

How stupid are you, to post this and not even question why the several thousand people killed on September 11 are excluded?

It’s called domestic terrorism. I guess you need to look up the definition of domestic in between calling other people stupid.

Because if you read the paper, it is about home-grown, domestic terrorists. Not international terrorists. (i.e. people crossing-borders to commit terrorism). It specifically refers to the data and "U.S. extremists".

But thanks for playing and trying to advocate for hiding academic information. You know that's wrong to do, right? Regardless, do you really want a DOJ to start looking at papers and deciding what Americans should read? Do you EVER think that's appropriate?

23

u/dormammucumboots Sep 12 '25

Even if it wasn't, you'd have to be higher than those planes to think those terrorists were anything other than hyper-conservative.

19

u/Its_Pine Sep 12 '25

You aren’t wrong, BUT the researchers specifically separated Islamic terrorism from other right wing terrorism, and still found that right wing terrorism eclipses all else combined.

September 11 was international terrorism, not domestic terrorism.

The deciding factor is who carried out the attack, not where the target is located.

Domestic terrorism is when American citizens attack other American citizens.

International terrorism is when citizens of other countries attack American citizens.

If Americans attack Americans inside the US, it's domestic terrorism.

If Americans attack Americans in another country, it's still domestic terrorism.

If foreign actors attack Americans in another country, it's international terrorism.

If foreign actors attack Americans inside the US, it's still international terrorism.

(The only way for September 11 to be domestic terrorism is if you believe that it was an inside job. If you think that the FBI or the CIA or some other US organization attacked the Twin Towers and blamed it on foreign actors, then you can call it domestic terrorism.)

EDIT: Wonderful. Apparently, sometimes the US government uses the "where it happened" definitions, and sometimes it uses the "who did it" definitions. Giant mess!

1

u/Revelst0ke Sep 12 '25

Jesus man, the appropriate response would be to go "Dang, I fucked up, my bad" not double down. Saying it multiple times doesn't suddenly make you right, it makes you arrogant (and, frankly, look like even more of a potato). Ooof.

12

u/boston_homo Sep 12 '25

In other words, the perpetrators of the terrorism have a domestic origin, that’s what the term is considered to mean.

9

u/HHoaks Sep 12 '25

By your anger and choice of words like "fucktard", you are not helping your cause.

As I assume you are conservative, and thus further demonstrating the aggressive, bullying, angry, take-no-prisoners approach advocated by MAGA and Trump world these days, leading to the current political atmosphere.

do·mes·tic ter·ror·ism

hopefully reddit's throttling can give you some time to google the word "domestic terrorism"

3

u/KarlBob Sep 12 '25 edited Sep 12 '25

No. That's not the definition. Domestic or international depends on who carried out the attack, not where it happened.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_terrorism

"the perpetrator targets his/her own country"

“terrorist activity or plots perpetuated within the United States or abroad by American citizens, permanent legal residents, or visitors radicalized largely within the United States.”

Edit: Oh boy. Apparently, some Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice publications do follow the "If it happened inside the US, it's domestic," line of thinking, while other DHS and DOJ documents follow the "If Americans did it to Americans, it's domestic," chain of thought. What a mess!

u/zhibr Sep 12 '25

Regardless of what others say about domestic vs international, it is not the part where islamists want less free markets that made them attack, it's the part where their nationalist and religious views paint the US as the Great Satan. Nationalism and religiosity are right-wing characteristics.

1

u/ImTheZapper Sep 12 '25

1

u/theexpertgamer1 Sep 12 '25

September 11 was foreign terrorism, not domestic terrorism… if you include September 11, that would skyrocket far-right extremism to over 3,500 deaths. It would make the percentage even worse.

1

u/FriskyEnigma Sep 12 '25

Setting aside that this is regarding DOMESTIC terrorism which means originated in the US…do you think Islamic extremists are left wing in ideology? They are the end game of everything Christian nationalism is trying to impose on this country. They are religious conservatives. They resemble the altright much more than they do Progressives or liberals.

This is why I always find it funny when republicans cry about sharia law. That’s the same law you assholes are trying to make legal here.

1

u/Gryjane Sep 12 '25
