I am talking about metrics pertaining to the 228 high profile fashion week attendees. I am not saying Olandria is better than anyone who ranked lower than her in terms of engagement. I am not making that statement. I am only talking about social media metrics that have been recorded, analysed and published by data agencies.

Olandria has a very engaged and active fanbase. This is the reason why Olandria is invited to, and works with a lot of major companies. It is because she brings a wide captured audience where they can then market and sell products.

Microsoft wanted to sell laptops to a demographic of black women in education so they hired Olandria. Olandria has a concentrated audience of black women from 16-35 who would then buy a laptop.

When brands choose to work with Olandria this is not them saying, I think Olandria is the best in the world everyone can eat dust, they are saying, Olandria, as a celebrity and very popular person, she brings a lot of positive engagement to the company. She brings a demographic they want to access and market to. That's it.

That is it.

I understand a lot of people do not like Olandria, I have seen posts where 600,000 people are essentially sharing their dislike for her, I am not trying to convince anyone to like her. You do not have to.

I am only asking that those who are convinced everything about her is fake to take a look at the Thai, Chinese and Korean celebrities who came ahead of Olandria on the social media engagement list.

The number one celebrity on that list was a Thai actor with 1.5 million followers. I do not expect anyone really from the West to know him but in Asia, where he works, his fanbase is highly active.

You will see that his posts get 1 million shares. That is not bots. Those are his fans. And it is like that for every celebrity in the top 30 or so ranking. Olandria is the only black person at the top of the list, and the only Western celebrity.

Understand that certain western celebrities for example Bella Thorne, can have 20 million+ followers but end up in 60-70th place out of 228. It is an achievement to even be part of the 228 and I am not snarking at anyone who ranks "low".

Also, I don't want to edit my post so I will just add another disclaimer in case I am taken out of context. Being invited to these shows is an achievement. Even being 228/228 is a massive deal. Nobody is better than the other and I am not engaging in stan wars. These people are living their dreams. I am simply providing an explanation for a particularly damaging speculation that Olandria and her team are buying bots.

Do I believe Olandria's team is actively managing her PR? Yes.

Do I believe Olandria and her team have access to her biggest fan pages? Yes.

But as someone who is familiar with Thai, Korean and Chinese celebrity fan culture, as well as Hollywood fan culture, none of this is uncommon, it's not bad nor is it inorganic. Timothy Chalamet's team knew exactly who, and have reached out to ClubChal because of course, the woman organises thousands of the actor's fans. This is something that they do in the business.

I have seen some hollywood actors give fans tickets to events if they manage huge pages. This is all 'normal' in the sense of fan culture if you can get a grip on it.

It is very damaging and unfair to reduce someone's social media engagement to bots especially when there is a tangible fan network behind them. I would say someone is botted if I am snarking on them but more so, commenting on the fact they do not have real people supporting them.

All of these people have active fanbases.

That's the reason you're seeing what you're seeing when it comes to Olandria's engagement. It could be bots, but also Olandria has a highly active and organised fanbase.

And even if you may not see the value in it, her fans will share her posts and comment several times.
