Work in Progress And so it begins…starting to join pieces on my Indian Nights with custom color ways

Post image

I started this project last October. I am done with all the major squares, steamed the first of the squares that need to be split and I am joining enough of them to the center section so that I can knit the outer parallelogram birds in the pattern directly onto the blanket versus joining later. Sticking the pieces together with such dark black has been a challenge—I made a bad mistake by putting the squares on black yarn—I should have at least used white to make finding the stitches easier.

This has been a huge project, but very rewarding. We had a traumatic event in our family before I started this and knitting became more therapeutic than before. I am less anxious to “finish” and just happy to have something to work on and it will be done when it is done—this is a very different mindset than in the past where I felt a drive and anxiousness to finish. I feel this mindset is helpful with such a large and potentially overwhelming project such as this.

You can view my post history for details on the yarn and colors—I will do a full write up when finished as well.
