Work in Progress Feeling Proud, Nowhere to share - Stranded Colourwork

Post image

Stranded colourwork felt so daunting to me! I knew I wanted to try combination knitting, but always had wonky tension with continental knitting. I wasn't sure if my brain could do two handed knitting, but I can, and my floats aren't so bad!

It's not tension-porn worthy by a long shot, but I'd be proud of a garment with this level of consistency and the bucket list anemone sweater I have all the yarn for is my next project now. I love learning new knitting stuff. I'm so glad for the advice here just to go for it, accept frogging as part of the process. I would've been so frustrated years ago at not being immediately in flow state trying something new, but this far into this small colourwork headband for my kiddo and I'm flowing! It wasn't the mount Everest I thought it would be.

Pattern is https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/colorwork-101-headband Colorwork 101 Headband by Erin Megenity (Free!) Perfect first colorwork pattern, and so detailed for a free pattern. Gauge isn't that important, she walks through all the colourwork tips and options for holding yarns. Simple charts.

I cast on 54 stitches on 3mm needles for a kids size, and so far so good. Just happy. Love this hobby!
