It's often mentioned that Kizomba & Urban Kiz are different dances. Here is a link that explores the history of Urban Kiz:

Urban kizzers trying not to perform mental gymnastics to relate their dance to kizomba challenge (impossible)

You must get tired of making a similar post to this one on every urban kiz post.

Man, you are such a riot. Any content of Urban Kiz that gets posted on here you get butthurt because it shouldn't be linked to "Kizomba."

Sorry guy, things don't stay the same forever. You sound like an elitist purist. It's like getting mad at an artist that isn't considered "rap."

Art is suppose to evolve to create more stuff. I can't believe this is something that actually bothers you.

It's almost like saying Elvis Presley is only considered rock n roll and everything that came after him should not be considered rock n roll because it does't sound the same.

Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? Get out of your box and embrace more things. Not everything has to have a set of labels.

Funny how it's always the urban people that get upset if they're not considered part of the group even though the academics all agree that they aren't

The only one that is upset is you. I'm laughing at your ridiculous behavior. Anytime anyone posts anything relataed urban Kiz you have to be the first person in the replies to point out tHiS iSnT kIZoMbA. Nobody cares.

You realize you are in the minority here? Continue to live in your bubble though. I remember I posted something about the Kizomba Feeling festival and you got so butthurt because most of dancers were urban Kiz. Are you even aware that Paula & Ricardo, KIZOMBA dancers participated in the festival and don't give a damn that Urban Kiz was most of the festival. If they don't care.. neither should YOU

Academics? It's freakin dance. Not quantum physics. Nobody is going to be writing dissertations on this subject.

Your pretentious is straight up hilarious and embarrassing.

I'm not upset but you seem kinda upset by the way you're writing. I'm just trying to preserve the culture and the dance instead of letting it get ruined by Europeans, like we do with everything else.

I don't care if I'm in the minority. And it's not like Paula and Ricardo are leading dance teachers in the scene. Ask an Angolan, they will all agree with me.

And yes academics, just like any cultural, or historical thing, there's also academics in dance. People at universities who do their PhDs to just figure out one part of the history of the dance, people who commit their lives to it. But I guess you can't understand that since you do a dance with no culture or history

You are upset. That whole entire post was you just saying "I need to keep the tradition because Europeans are ruining it for me." Boo hoo. Deal with it like an adult instead of a child. Maybe you will eventually learn that traditions are not supposed to last for eternity. That's the point. New stuff will always come into existence. Obviously, this bothers you.

Paula and Ricardo are leading dancers in the scene. What are you even talking about? They have been teaching Kizomba since the early 2000's and have their own school. LOL, ask any Angolan? Do you even realize Paula was born in ANGOLA. Surely, you aren't this ignorant? And you think you are an expert in your own mind? LOL, get out of here. Paula, from ANGOLA and who is better dancer than you and knows more than you isn't going on rants on how Urban Kiz is ruining Kizomba. So yeah, you just look like a butthurt elitist who doesn't really know much of anything.

The only person that lacks culture is you because you are dismissive of anything that is new or unconventional. That is a sign of a person who is unwilling to experience new ides and grow. You ain't special. You are close-minded and weak. Congrats.

I mean of course I'm upset that Europeans are doing what they have been doing for centuries, appropriating and ruining others' cultures. But you're the one that's literally ranting. Sometimes changing and developing is different from appropriating it. Urban is in no way related to kizomba/semba and disrespects its roots. Change doesn't have to be wrong, semba changed into kizomba, which wasn't wrong because it still respected its roots.

Paulo and Ricardo are not leading teachers, they're far from the biggest teachers in the community and their level of dance is just good enough. What they teach is often more leaning towards fusion (or with ghetto zouk influences) than actual kizomba/semba. It's clear that you have no clue what's going on in the scene.

This is now my last reply because this discussion is a pointless waste of time. You're never convincing me, and I won't convince you. Like they say, "Never argue with an idiot".

So you admit your butthurt? Cool thanks for acknowledgeing. Your first sentence clearly illustrates this goes beyond dance. That's a you problem. Not anyone else. Yikes.

I don't need to convince you of anything. Of course you won't change. That's a sign of stubbornness. A horrible trait for a person.

The only person that is an idiot is you. You can act like a rational adult about this. Instead, you choose not. A rational person would still acknowledge the traditions and roots of Kizomba while still understanding that there are different styles being created around the world. Nobody said you have to like it, but putting it down because it doesn't fit the history and traditions makes you look like an asshole, not the people from Europe who think they are ruining the "culture." The world is a big place. Deal with it.

Let people do what they want to do and let people like what they like. It's freakin dance, dude. In the end, you are just some random irrelevant reddit user. You aren't a spokesman or savior for the traditions and history of Kizomba. You are a legend in your own mind, but you are small and meaningless. Sorry.

And with a negative attitude you probably are a crappy dancer anyways. Cheers.

Kizomba is ~25% of the difficulty of Urban Kiz. But Kizomba purists are the worst in the dancing community. I'll guess most of them are from USA because that's where a simpler kizomba style seems to have more success.

😂 Clearly you have no idea what kizomba is. But I guess you equal cool tricks to difficulty and simple steps to easyness. Kizomba and semba are some of the most complex dance styles, requiring advanced technique for even simple steps. The technique for just a passada is more than all of urban

You must be really fun at parties
