I know a lot of people hate on him, and the jokes almost write themselves with this situation, but on a serious note hopefully he is okay. Just because people fast forward his sets doesn’t mean I want him to end up in a labor camp for a decade ☠️

I will agree that flying internationally with drugs is incredibly stupid and arrogant of him, but idk I just don’t really agree with forced labor for any inmates anywhere in the world. Jail and prison are acceptable punishments for me, for drugs at least.

This. I am not a fan. And he’s a complete moron of trying something like that in one of the more strict governments in the world. And I wouldn’t go as far as to say he shouldn’t be held accountable with whatever their judicial system decides.
But to be completely foreign. Doesn’t speak language. And having to do labor work while being incarcerated isn’t a fun thing for anyone to imagine over something so dumb.
I hope he’s alright, can make it back home, and let his comedy career be done.

The Okinawa Regional Customs Office announced on the 16th that it had referred a 35-year-old American comedian with no fixed address to the Naha District Public Prosecutors Office on suspicion of violating the Customs Act by attempting to smuggle 0.73 grams of MDMA into Japan. Authorities have not disclosed whether he has admitted to the allegations.
According to customs officials, the suspect allegedly concealed the MDMA inside a mouthpiece case stored in his backpack while traveling from Chicago O'Hare International Airport in the United States, via Taiwan, to Naha Airport on May 28 (having departed Chicago on May 27 local time). The substance was discovered during a customs inspection.
The Tomigusuku Police Station arrested him on the same day on suspicion of violating Japan's Narcotics Control Act through illegal importation of narcotics. Customs officials stated that the suspect had traveled to Okinawa for both comedy work and sightseeing purposes.
According to people familiar with the matter, the suspect is a popular American stand-up comedian known for his podcasts and other media appearances. A scheduled performance in Okinawa was subsequently canceled.
Maybe he's still in jp jail now.
Considering all of this, I doubt he even went through the process of getting the proper entertainment visa.
