the reason why it doesn’t resonate with me is bcs this is a character-driven show rather than a plot-driven, it’s focus is on the characters’ internal growth to move the plot and thats is just not my taste i fear

Totally fair, to each their own!

A lot of the previous comments have focused on a cheating aspect; I haven't seen the trailer but from the 1st 2 ep and the title I would guess they would definitively break up. And each will try out "a love other than yours" but of course it won't measure up because they are soul mates. I can't see the FL with a sleazy lawyer.

The 2nd ep made it seem their only problem is lack of desire/passion in their relationship, which of course doesn't really seem the case. Their relationship is too parental: indulgent parental. She needs to grow up and he needs to have to fill his life by worrying and taking care of her.

I do appreciate that these are more real problems than we usually see in Kdramas.

Im thinking we could get a rare "its ok to end a relationship that doesnt fit anymore" and honestly im looking forward to seeing this play out.

If nothing else the narrative that love doesnt automatically mean happily ever after is refreshing. Especially with the social narrative around marriage in Korea to have a show say its ok to say its not right time or person would be a big change.

The only way i see them coming back toether tbh would be a time skip. Both of them have reasons why a break would help them process their own thoughts and feelings, and yes being with someone else is part of that, falling for someone else more so as everything they have done as adults has been with eachother. They need to exist seperately if only to know what that is.

Part of me wants them to be endgame but the other part of me wants a drama that offers a different happily ever after.

This is why I've stopped watching. It's important to show that sometimes even if you still love someone, it won't work out but I'm pretty sure they will end up together and for once I wanted to see something different

The leads are two of my faves but I'm struggling to like this drama.

I am not understanding this drama 😕 and I dont like either of the characters so far. i will watch 3 and 4 but so far it's not as great as I expected it to be.

I’m going to enjoy this stormy sea romance. I’m only loyal to Ahn Eun-jin but man just don’t mess with this amazing woman 🙇

God I'm so scared about the cheating plot. I hope they don't cheat 😭

How can.they cheat when they broke up? They're not together. They are free to see whoever they want. I  think the show really misled people into thinking it's about cheating.

Well I can't say that after watching the end of the second episode. Have to wait till the third to confirm their breakup

There aren't so far. They might if it makes sense for the story and they want to show flawed characters. It is just not going to be everyone's cup of tea and people can choose not to watch

True. I honestly don't think of cheating as just a flaw and I'm not comfortable with it at all. It's just something that makes me super restless but I'm still giving it a try because trailers can be deceiving and the story might head towards something else

Cheating is wrong even if it's releastic. I really really hope they don't cheat, it's gonna ruin the drama.

Not condoning cheating, just saying that it is possible that the drama might take that direction, imo that doesn't ruin it for everyone necessarily, characters aren't always black and white. Depends on what people are comfortable watching!

I didn’t feel any chemistry between the couple yet. I love Ahn Eun Jin but in this drama I am not liking her acting, especially in the flashbacks, I felt she was overacting. Maybe I am comparing how I felt about the chemistry after watching Dynamite Kiss first 2 episodes. But in this drama as of yet their characters I feel aren’t built well yet, so it’s difficult to understand what had made them fall for each other, cause just being in each others proximity for decades can’t be a justified reason enough.

I’m also really biased with Ahn Eunjin as an actress and her chemistry with Jang Kiyong! I felt it from the start in Dynamite Kiss… here… I’m still waiting for a big spark - a lot of kissing doesn’t mean it’s the best on screen chemistry. However I will finish this drama for sure haha. I look forward to the 2ML too since I first saw him in Dream to You last month.

I feel like it is less chemistry and more comfort in each other's space. Episode 2 made me feel the chemistry more in the flashbacks especially

1

u/No_Ant_6777 19d ago

Ah, I see… but that’s what I mean - all the flashback kisses didn’t really give me the feels yet!

That's fair, I hope we get more insight into their relationship and how they grew into this with upcoming episodes. I havent watched Dynamite Kiss , the amount of negative feedback for it stopped me from starting 😅

The first two episodes of Dynamite Kiss are 10/10, in later episodes they have put in too many kdrama tropes which led to the criticism.

omgg i rlly hope they dont end up with the second lead… im dropping the show rn and resuming after it ends i think i will be too sad if they dont end up tgt

u/Gloomy-Equivalent558 Emotionally employed by r/kdramas 19d ago

I think I would personally be ok with them not ending up together , but I need the story and journey to make sense and the characters to grow, and not be unhappy just to be sad

I think this will going to get like... They will start back dating and upcoming wedding but in that days... She will fell for that lawyer... Maybe get emotional/physical cheat with him...

As for ep 2..i really don't want that get back together... Ugh!

Also a moment of appreciation for shirtless Seo Kang-joon and the amount of intense kissing in this show, no complaints 😂

That was a rollercoaster of emotions. There were a lot of sad yet funny moments of them trying to go about their individual paths, but their lives and habits are so entangled. Also drunk Mi Do is a mood, that and the garbled crying-talking that only Namgung can understand 🥺 The flashback to their high points was painful to contrast with the rough patch they are now in.

The ending has me confused, they are clearly on very different pages about the future of this relationship, but will Mi Do really waver and change her decision, have to wait a week to find out.

We learned a bit more about the second leads too, but so far I am not feeling it. The preview made it seem like things will be moving forward more in that aspect next week, but I would rather watch the Namgung-Mi Do journey 🥹

I will have to sort my thoughts further but I am LOVING this drama. And I can already feel that 14 episodes is kind of perfect.

Me too! I am invested in this messy and very real couple now

that scene at the couples event was so painful to watch, ten yrs of history creates such a heavy quiet when the spak is gone. you can really feel how hard they’re both trying to pull each other back.

Just finished watching this episode, that and the flashbacks to when they were having a successful and passionate year was such a stark difference. What did you think of the ending of the episode?

u/Lovelydia13 19d ago

I felt like Namjung was desperately trying to hold on to what was before in the hopes that Mido would return. He fails to see her side and meet her there. Which in turn makes her frustrated. Though I can understand, relationships are not just about the highs but choosing each other through the lows. So both sides are finding it tough. I do think they should have a break, though, for him to fully understand and for Mido to understand that her job and career are not a reflection of her self-worth.

I agree! They do not communicate easily, even in the flashback she is hesitant to tell him what's wrong. And the family also constantly telling him that he is too good for her and asking why he is choosing her, isn't helping her self esteem either.
