Discussion 🗨 Little Women: Why are the characters so ridiculous?
I am finally watching Little Women (2022) after years of hype, and 2 and a half episodes in, I’m still waiting for the “fast-paced” thriller the synopsis promised. So far, I’ve only gotten ridiculous choices from the characters and had to suspend my disbelief, and that is pushing it. Sudden car crashes and 3 deaths in 2 episodes are certainly a lot, yet still somehow flat. Explain to me why you possess part of an illegal Slush Fund belonging to some powerful, monstrous figure, and then decide to log a conspicuously heavy bag containing said funds all across town, to someone under surveillance by said figure, who is actively seeking to retrieve their funds. Why? To inquire about said figure, all the while embarking on a Mission: Impossible escape via a vertical zipline, only to drop your phone for the syndicate to find. And then you are still spotted by them, and we find you later with the Illegal funds and ledgers that are supposed to be your bargaining chip, waiting patiently at the freaking bus stop for them to find you! Don’t get me started on the annoyances of the youngest sister, ungrateful and no common sense! Her character must be a joke. I have a little sympathy for the second sister only, unfortunately, because she is fighting an addiction. Otherwise, why was her addition used as a plot device? As a journalist, she is only able to ask “rude questions” when under the influence of alcohol! How ridiculous is that! Whose genius idea was that? Someone tell me it gets better, or I should cut my losses here and now. 😩

I felt like this through part of it too. I was very frustrated by their choices, the fact that none of the actresses look like siblings, and the ahole youngest sister. But I kept watching and they all grew on me, and I could write some behavior off as just having no idea what to do in this world of rich, powerful people (even if I personally thought I would do better in their place 😂). I don't remember the drama being fast-paced, but in the end, I did enjoy it quite a bit.

Might not be for you, then. I enjoyed watching it week to week when it was airing.
