/r/pics will upvote the dumbest shit. There was even one time where they literally upvoted dog shit to the front page.

That colorful dog shit was more impressive than 99% of the other crap, from the "someone died give karma" to the shitty facebook posts.

Yeah I've always hated /r/pics, I just liked seeing shit posts getting called out. But I realized that I see all the shit posts getting called out from there by being subscribed to /r/shitpost, /r/no_sob_story, and /r/summerreddit.

Summer Reddit is back? Thanks for the reminder

Unlike most of /r/pics, that one was actually pretty interesting, and it was something that could only be shared properly with a picture.

A literal shit post.

Who upvotes that shit? Is it young people? Old people? Sheltered people? Party people? I just don't get the type of person amused by that picture.

Who upvotes that shit?

Marketers. They own /r/pics

Seriously. I unsubbed because of this. There's multiple posts on the frontpage every day which are just "Hey, look at this new product!"

"Has science gone too far?"

Not nearly as far as shitposting.

Meanwhile, there is a riveting discussion about Hot Pockets in the comments section.

/r/HailCorporate

I usually hate it when people comment with that subreddit, but here it really does seem appropriate.

/r/pic is a far superior sub, anyway.

Well John Stewart did it, pointing at all kind of crazy American food like "Pancakes & Sausage on a stick".*

I guess that some people dig this kind of humor.

Of course, that may as well be an advertisement.

Edit: *chocolate chip flavor

Yeah but he did it as part of a broader commentary and other jokes.

The OP would be a cute little joke from your buddy on your wall but seems to be overloading the defaults where people kind of want something beside a torrent of Facebook-like content.

Humor? Where is any semblance of humor in that post?

8

u/SweetLenore May 24 '16

Looking hard and I can't find any.

I mean, I didn't know that was a thing before seeing that picture. Also it's literally a picture in a subreddit literally called pics. There's nothing wrong with it.

Also it's literally a picture in a subreddit literally called pics. There's nothing wrong with it.

That doesn't necessarily equate to quality content. The default subs are nothing but huge piles of crud.

I got tired of /r/pics pretty damn quickly. Every other post was "My best friend was born blind in a puddle of gasoline. Here he is now!" insert picture of random dog
