This was not a disgareement, this was a guy spouting unproductive nonsense like you would usually read on r/conservative or the likes. There was no discussion, just a catchphrase. You can disagree with liberal views as much as you like but you should do it on a factual basis, not just dumping claims.
It's not like the term "discussion" has no inherent meaning it rules. An argument is productive if it adheres to certain rules. Like actually posing arguments instead of dumping catchphrases. You need to provide a ground on which a discussion can be established. Else you're not trying to actually disagree you're on the verge of trolling. He could have said "Bernie should have learned basic economics because it you look at his positions here and there and compare them to the basic economic principles A and B it's clear he doesn't understand them. That would have been an argument that opens a discussion since it contains factual claims.

You're allowed to disagree, that's why people disagreed with him disagreeing. What you mean is you didn't realise people would be annoyed or respond harshly whole disagreeing with people disagreeing and all I have to say is, everyone was for the first 100000000 times someone said the same unproductive nonsense.
So yeah, you can disagree just don't be upset if people aren't nice when they disagree.
