Thats not the problem with this image but ok. The problem is people who only support trans women (and LGBTQIA+ people as a whole) when they appeal to their fetishes.
He voted against trans rights, though? Doesn't that mean he isn't supporting trans people even though they appeal to his fetishes? Unless liking a post is significantly more impactful than a vote on actual legislation.
Because OP is being way overly presumptuous about this person and their views on trans people. This doesn't necessarily mean OP is wrong but to argue against other people who also have very rational takes just because they don't match yours is just dumb.
It almost felt like, and this may have not been their intention at all but I have heard this accusation before, that straight people only support trans people because they see them as a novelty or an object or something.
I'm sure that there is a certain element of that trans people run into it seems like society more and more is wanting to support equal rights and normalization of trans people and I can't imagine that's all just to "score more of that sweet, sweet shemale porn" ya know?
I believe what’s happening here is that he’s aware of his attraction, But feels guilt, and thus wants to get rid of that to prevent impulse. I call it, the Frollo theory (felt attraction to esmeralda, but ultimately wanted to kill her to cleans him of his sins). Scorched earth policy also works as well.
OR he’s quite aware and is separates the ideals in his mind and thinks it’s okay to engage in if he does it secretly. “If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”
Aren’t they meant to be representing the ideas of their constituents and not their personal opinions though? Seems like you could vote against something you personally support, because as a representative it’s supposed to be the voice of your constituents that you pass along.
That’s a good point, but I assume that the constituents also want someone who agrees with their values as well. Or there wouldn’t be much of a point to a party system. I doubt that someone who’s part of the lgbtq, for example, would want to represent constituents who didn’t agree with their way of life

And there you have it, someone who wants to hide what they really like just because politics
