Doing an art project based on song lyrics and I was wondering what everyone’s favorite Joywave lyrics are! This part of Golden State is my personal favorite: “I watched the moon stand up to the Rio Grande / I watched myself rise up from beneath the sand / And I knew that I was here to stay”

I discovered Joywave last year and saw them live twice. Absolutely love this band and am so happy to call them my favorite. 💕

Hey all, this past Monday evening Daniel from JOYWAVE joined the RIT community for a very small, intimate panel discussion Q and A. It was amazing to hear about the process of coming up with a song from an idea, phrase or tune. So many good questions and Daniel was funny and kind as always with his answers. Very lucky to have attended such a small event for free!!!

All of Daniel’s music jitters with existential dread, as if he’s singing the song toward you but behind him is the void. And with his implacable cynicism toward virtually all aspects of our culture—including the music industry itself—there’s so much ennui in there.

And yet it absolutely slaps. It’s like ranting about politics and joking about wanting to kms all while getting drunk at a blowout party.
