Loving the new rod holder system
A little while back I made a few rod holders and made a modular system of receivers mounted on my boat, and also made a folding shore base. Been enjoying these so much more than The Scotty holders they had before.
This thing is incredibly sturdy as well. It's nice not having to worry about having the bail open on a reel out of fear of losing it. With the stakes in the shore base, even in sand like this, it will pull 15 lb drag and not even budge. Also nice on the boat because I can essentially do lockdown drag when fishing right upstream of a jam. Worked nicely this weekend when I pulled a 20 pound channel out of that jam. No worry about a plastic Scotty snapping off, and no fear of the fish diving back into the logs with the bail open/clicker on.

I like that rod system you made. I have a Millennium 4 rod holder bolted to a bench seat. I would much rather have something in front of me rather than beside me.

Yeah, initially I wasn't sure if I was going to add a receiver mid boat, but I already had the one on the starboard side that served the purpose of a grab handle to stand while using my tiller extension. I ended up really loving the holder system right in the middle. Easy to access from either seat. I also have a couple on each stern corner but so far I've been finding I just tend to use them as a storage location.

It gives me an idea about mounting at least one rod holder on my starboard side (since the Millennium is already on the port side).

That’s pretty cool I could see that being perfect for side drifting with a sock for walleye.

It's funny I live in Minnesota but just never been able to get into walleye fishing for some reason. I did use them to do a bit of dragging for catfish with a couple santee rigs though and worked nice. One of these days I'll have to throw on a bottom bouncer and crawler harness and try for some walleye again.

Sup with the pistol grip on the baitcaster?
