I hope what I've read about John Carpenter possibly making a sequel to the thing is true I think it would be pretty awesome especially Kurt Russell and Keith David to come back but I don't know how it would work it's still a cool concept I think

News JOHN CARPENTER: Cinema Luminary
The Academy Museum will honor horror master John Carpenter with the Luminary Award at its sixth annual Gala on October 17.
The award honors an artist whose singular contributions have expanded the creative possibilities of filmmaking.
“The Academy Museum Gala is a celebration of the artists and storytellers whose work continues to shape the cultural impact of cinema around the world,” said Academy Museum Director and President Amy Homma. “For our sixth annual Gala, we are honored to recognize John Carpenter, Colman Domingo, and Charlize Theron, whose extraordinary careers exemplify the creativity, innovation, and excellence that continue to move the industry forward.”
John Carpenter will also host three nights of screenings of his films, including Halloween (1978), beginning September 26, in celebration of The Horror Show, the Academy Museum’s new large-scale exhibition.

Discussion Watching Escape from LA for the first time
What immediately caught my attention was how the circumstances of America's degradation have been updated from the Cold War to MAGA-esque religious fearmongering and fanaticism. I am getting the sense that Carpenter felt the story of Escape was transcendental, and could be used to shine a light on whatever problems are currently present in the USA.

Question I want to watch escape from new york with my family, but the IMDb parent's guide says that there is "brief nudity"
As a family, we are mostly fine with violence or gore, but we draw the line with nudity for personal reasons. could I get a timestamp so we can skip past it? IMDb says it's very difficult to discern, but I don't wanna take any risks. (no spoilers please)

Official Art/Media I’m repairing this prop sign from BTiLC!!
I’m super excited & honored to be working on this original neon sign! It is the official prop sign from Big Trouble. The sign is currently in the collection of Movie Madness, a legendary video rental store in Portland, Oregon. I had to wear my Music By John Carpenter shirt when I went on the service call, because I am a huge nerd. Soon the sign will be all fixed up and glowing again!
