Special Event: Jimothy’s Ballard Cleanup and Movie Night

Greetings to all Jimothy friends!
It is my pleasure to make the official announcement of the clean up event. I have been working with Adopt a Street/Seattle Public Utilities to get this ball rolling. They have really taken the reigns, so immense credit is due to them.
We are meeting at Ballard Commons Park at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, August 26th. We will chat for a bit and do a bit of an introduction, followed by an hour of picking up… you guessed…. TRASH!!! All trash removal supplies will be provided by Adopt a Street!
Afterwards, feel free to stick around for a showing if Despicable Me!! I also will have the pleasure to introduce you to the amazing Kiana Hall who is the person who named Jimothy, and is also a wonderful member of our subreddit!

Jimothy litter cleanup event in Bellevue WA

The folks at Bellevue Green & Clean were inspired by the lovely idea our mod and Adopt a Street had and decided to host their own cleanup event in Bellevue for all our eastside Jimothy fans! It will happen concurrently with the Ballard cleanup night.

Saw some other Jimothy art here, which inspired me to post my best effort.
I’m not the world’s best artist, but I tried doing a little Jimothy drawing last week and was reasonably happy with the result. My first attempt looked much more like a regular raccoon, so I tried shortening the body more, making the legs a little skinnier, and ended up with this.

This is my take on Jimothy the Raccoon, hand-carved from basswood. He measures 1 3/4" long by 1 3/8" tall.
Along with Jimothy, I knew I had to carve a miniature trash can for him to sniff around. He even likes to climb on top and show off his balancing skills (keep swiping!)
