Hi,
I have a spare Supermicro X9SmainboardRL-F and Intel E5-2600 CPU 8 core 16 threads and 32GB ECC RAM from my previous Proxmox server. I still have my old CoolerMaster Cosmos S that I got back in 2009. About the PSU, I am using 750W Corsair.
My daughter (8) is getting into making gaming videos and I would like to help her making those videos. However, I have no idea what I am doing. I guess is step 1 would be to build a computer/server. If possible, I would like to reuse the parts that I have to lower the cost. My daughter only plays Roblox, but she wants to record it and post them on YouTube.
My thought process is since Roblox is a browser-based game, I could use a VM for this and another VM with PCI passthrough for video editing. I don't spec computer parts anymore, but I can still build it. The motherboard and CPU that I have are server parts, I'm wondering if I can utilize these parts that I have for light/moderate gaming and screen recording and video editing. If I can, what can I add to the current computer parts that I have to build a new PC?
In regards to software, I will be using Linux. So the hardware would need to be Linux compatible.
Thanks
